Master Nioh 3's Part 89! Learn Naomasa's spear tricks, counter the Fallen Onmyo Mages, and grab essential loot. Your guide to victory!
Alright, let's dive into Part 89 of our Nioh 3 journey. We've got a couple of tough encounters ahead, starting with a familiar face, Naomasa, and then moving on to deal with some troublesome Fallen Onmyo Mages.
Boss Fight: Naomasa
This fight might seem intimidating, but Naomasa is actually pretty manageable if you stick to what you know. He uses spear attacks, and you've definitely fought enemies with spears before. The key here is to manage your Ki, stay at a safe distance when you can, and only go in for quick hits when you see an opening. Don't forget you can use the pillars in the dojo to block his attacks or heal up if you get in a pinch.
Naomasa's Moves:
- Spear Combos: Most of his spear attacks are variations you've encountered from other spear users. The main things to watch out for are his finishing moves in combos, specifically 'Piercing Rain' and 'Spearfall' – these hit hard! He also has a couple of low stance moves like 'Flying Monkey,' which tries to get behind you, and 'Back Slash,' where he leaps backward while attacking. The 'Back Slash' is actually a good opportunity for you to heal or buff up since he's giving you space.
- Spirit Summon: This is where things get a bit more unique. Naomasa summons his Enko spirit, which gives his spear a fire effect. The Enko will stay put for a bit before lunging. Dashing away should keep you safe from the spirit itself. Your main concern is the fire effect on his weapon. If you get hit by the fire, quickly roll around to put it out. The fire effect will wear off over time.
After you finally defeat Naomasa, make sure to collect your reward. You'll also get a new Spirit Guardian, 'Enko,' which is a pretty sweet deal. Don't forget to talk to Naomasa afterwards to progress.
The Fallen Onmyo Mages (Mount Hiei, Yamashiro Province)
Now, we're heading to Mount Hiei to deal with some Fallen Onmyo Mages. Tenkai mentions they're using 'Kelley's Spikes,' but our main objective is to take out the mages themselves. We'll start outside the boss area and need to backtrack a bit.
- 1As you begin, head backward from the boss area. You'll find a [_CORPSE_] in a cubby to your right. Nearby, there's a Shrine – definitely use it to prepare.
- 2From the Shrine, you have a couple of paths. Let's stick to the upper route for now. Ahead, you'll see a NINJA on a ledge to your left and a mage to your right. It's best to take out at least one of them quickly to avoid being overwhelmed.
- 3Further on, you'll reach an area similar to where the Nue was. Down here, there are TWO mages. My advice? Leave them for now and head towards the HOT SPRING past the well. You'll encounter and defeat a ninja on your way. Look for another [_CORPSE_] near a tree as you get close to the hot spring.
- 4Once you've reached the Hot Spring and gotten that regeneration, head back and try to snipe one of the mages. This will trigger a TENGU to appear.
- 5Now you're facing a mage and a Tengu. This can be pretty annoying, but the strategy is to let them come to you. Hit them as they approach, then guard and move back towards the Hot Spring. If you time it right, you can drop down to the path below the hot spring and likely take out the mage easily from there. That leaves just the Tengu.
- 6After the Tengu is dealt with, you can drop back down to the area where the Nue was. Don't forget to head right up the slope for a [_CORPSE_].
- 7Break the regen crystals here. The larger one has another [_CORPSE_] next to it with some items.
- 8From here, you can drop down to access a locked room below, which contains [_CORPSE x2_]. You can also open the door in this area.
- 9With that door open, head inside the cave. You'll face a Skeleton Warrior here.
- Don't underestimate Naomasa's spear combos; his finishers can catch you off guard.
- Using the environment, like the pillars, can give you crucial breathing room against Naomasa.
- When dealing with the mages and Tengu, luring them one by one and using the Hot Spring for regeneration is key.
- Always check for [_CORPSE_] items – you never know what valuable gear you might find.
- Spirit Guardian: Enko
- Various loot from corpses and enemies.
