Struggling to find a Lucky Egg in Pokémon Platinum? Learn the best strategies and tips to increase your chances of finding this rare item from Chansey.
Q: I've been using your lucky egg trick, with the Victory Road and level 18. It seems to work, I'm only seeing Chansey and Pikachu. The thing is, I've been at it for over 3 hours, I've seen 81 Chansey, and not one lucky egg. I've come across about 37 Oval Stones, and I've gotten 2 Light Balls from Pikachu. Is there some criteria, like that it has to be morning, or something like that for the lucky egg to show up? Thanks. P.S. I use a level 18 Hoothoot to lead, and a level 54 Banette to use Thief and Frisk. I just switch to it when a Chansey shows up.
A: Ah, I'm glad someone got use out of the Lucky Egg trick! To answer your question, items can be gotten at any time. I got my first Lucky Egg late in the afternoon, and the second in the morning. The first took me about 80 or so Chansey, and the second took me only about 30.
My best advice is to take breaks. Lucky Eggs are hard to get due to the high amount of Oval Stones they carry (pretty much every other Chansey has it, as you can see by your amount). Play for about 30 minutes, take a break, and then try again. It makes it far less tedious.
Also, here is a new thing I just found out: A Pokémon with Compound Eyes will attract hold items more if it is your lead. However, if you can, try to test this: Stick a level 18 fainted Pokémon with Compound Eyes as your lead.
