Follow this guide to complete all of the Underground Man's quests in Pokémon Platinum, earning free items, traps, and furniture for your Secret Base.

Located in Eterna City to the right of the Pokemon Center, the Underground Man is a tutorial/quest giver you must visit during the main game. You can also choose to complete his optional quests later on to receive free items and unlock the ability to create your own Secret Base. Note that the missions stack, so completing a requirement before starting the associated quest will still grant credit.

Walkthrough

    The First Mission: Get the Explorer Kit. You are forced to obtain the Explorer Kit from him during the main game. Simply go outside, open your item bag, and select the Explorer Kit. This will initiate a Wi-Fi mode connection, transporting you underground where you will meet Roark. Afterward, return to the Underground Man to receive some traps.

    The Second Mission: Dig up Spheres and/or Fossils. Go to the Underground and start digging for spheres and fossils. Completing this mission is often done incidentally while exploring. You will receive several small spheres as a reward.

    The Next Mission: Bury Spheres. The Underground Man wants you to bury spheres in the Underground so they can grow. If you still have spheres from him, open your inventory in the Underground, select the sphere option, and choose one to bury. Confirm the action and return to him to receive the Digger Drill, which is used to create your Secret Base. You can bury any of your spheres for this mission.

    The Next Mission: Make Your Secret Base. It is recommended to create your base in an area you frequent. Head to the Underground, select a wall for your base, and access your traps menu. Use the drill to create your base. Return to the Underground Man to receive furniture for your Secret Base.

    The Final Mission: Decorate Your Secret Base. Go to your Secret Base, access the PC, and move an item from your PC into your base. This item does not need to be one provided by the Underground Man. Upon returning to him, you will receive a doll.

Once all missions are completed, speak to the Underground Man again, and he will explain how to move the boulders within your Secret Base.
