Learn about Induce Infection, Attraction Pheromone, and Program Infected active skills in Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, including their upgrades and uses.

Induce Infection

This skill has the possibility to infect a soldier or a zombie and change them into a Crimson Head. The percentage chance to infect a soldier and turn a zombie into a Crimson Head ally depend on the level of this ability. The amount of infection darts that can be shot before recharge depends on the level of this ability as well. Press triangle (Y button) to swap the currently equipped weapon for a hypo gun. While equipped with the hypo gun, press the R1 (RT button) to fire an injection dart at a targetted soldier or zombie. While the enemy is being controlled, it will have a red glow surrounding it. Press R3 (RS) to target another enemy to make the controlled enemy attack the target.

Upgrades:

  • Level 1: 750 XP, 33% infect, 90% ally, Max carry 1
  • Level 2: 2000 XP, 50% infect, 95% ally, Max carry 2
  • Level 3: 5000 XP, 67% infect, 100% ally, Max carry 3

Comments: This ability is really too random to be effective against soldiers for the most part, but if you have good luck, it can turn a soldier into a Crimson Head ally from long range. This is so great when soldier take cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) behind an object. Using this for zombies is kind of useless if you ask me.

Attraction Pheromone

Press triangle (Y button) to throw a vial toward a targetted area. The vial will explode and release gas that will lure T-virus infected enemies toward that area. Anything that is covered in the gas becomes the primary target of the surrounding T-virus infected. The gas cloud range and the duraction of this ability depends upon its current level.

Upgrades:

  • Level 1: 1250 XP, 12 meter gas cloud, 10 second duration
  • Level 2: 3000 XP, 14 meter gas cloud, 12.5 second duration
  • Level 3: 6000 XP, 16 meter gas cloud, 15 second duration

Comments: Attraction Pheromone shines in stages with several zombies. It's really good in the final mission at the portion where players have to break through the wooden barricade toward the end.

Program Infected

Shoot a dart that will allow you to control an infected enemy for a certain amount of time. The number of darts that can be carried depends upon the current level of this ability. The duration period of the controlled infected depends upon the strength of the controlled enemy - weaker enemies will be controlled longer. Press triangle (Y button) to swap the currently equipped weapon for a hypo gun. While equipped with the hypo gun, press the R1 (RT button) to fire a dart at a targetted infected enemy. While the enemy is being controlled, it will have a red glow surrounding it. Press R3 (RS) to target another enemy to make the controlled enemy attack the target. Enemies that may be controlled: Zombies (any type), Parasite, Zombie Dogs, Lickers, Hunters, Tyrants (T-102/Mr. X type).

Upgrades:

  • Level 1: 1250 XP, Max carry 3
  • Level 2: 3000 XP, Max carry 4
  • Level 3: 6000 XP, Max carry 5

Comments: In missions with Hunters, Lickers or Tyrants, this ability is priceless. Don't just use the ability to control a creature - use the ability to keep the creature from attacking your team then constantly blast that creature and kill it off while it can't hit your character. This ability makes stages with Hunters laughable if used properly. It's absolutely amazing that this can control Tyrants also!
