Defeat Plant 42 in Resident Evil by solving puzzles and mixing chemicals. Learn the steps for Rebecca Chambers and Chris Redfield.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Enter the Employee Lounge and locate a red lamp. Note its color and the symbol. Repeat this with a green lamp and an orange lamp. Study the pool balls; Red is 3, Orange is 5, and Green is 6.
  2. 2
Travel to the Gallery and examine the keypad next to the first door on the left. Enter the code (635, but it could be random; 536 on HARD MODE).
  3. 3
Grab three empty bottles. Fill one with water at the sink. Fill a second bottle with UMB No. 3 from the yellow jar and mix with water to obtain NP-004. Collect Yellow-6 and mix with NP-004 for UMB No. 10. Collect more water and Yellow-6, mix for UMB No. 7. Combine UMB No. 7 and UMB No. 10 for VP-017. Mix a final batch of UMB No. 3 for V-Jolt.
  4. 4
Travel to the basement and make your way to the control room (use the Water Rooms to get there). Go up the ladder and out the door. Eliminate the beach shark with one handgun shot. Enter the Guard Room by the shark and walk into the plant's roots. Give Plant 42 a shot of the herbicide (V-Jolt) and discard the bottles.
  5. 5
Now playing as Chris Redfield, use all your ammo to fight and kill Plant 42. It can take anywhere from 10 SHOTGUN SHELLS to 20.
Tips
  • On HARD MODE, you may be forced to fight Plant 42 directly as Rebecca Chambers. If this happens, unload the MAGNUM and SHOTGUN on it.
  • A misstep when mixing chemicals could produce very toxic gas.
  • The roots in the basement will not hurt you.
  • The beach shark only bothers you if you try to get it to eat you.
  • Watch out for Plant 42's attacks.
