Knife

Learn about the Knife, a switchblade weapon in Silent Hill 3, held by Heather from the start.

The Knife is a switchblade for self-defense in Silent Hill 3, better to have than not have against monsters, though it is considered the worst weapon in the game and is a disaster to use unless you are highly skilled.

Because it is so small, the Knife can only be used at extremely close range and is very weak, requiring you to regularly avoid enemy attacks while fighting with it. To do this, you can sidestep around enemies with L1 and R1 while attacking them. This strategy can work fairly well on Numb Bodies and somewhat on Double Heads, but that is about it. Honestly, if your only weapon choice is the Knife, it is probably better just to run.

To use the Knife, hold R2 and press X to deliver a regular swing, or hold X to perform a quick thrust attack. Do not expect to kill many enemies with this weapon; you should be happy if you manage even a single kill with it.

This weapon is held by Heather from the start of the game, both in her nightmare and in the mall.
