In Silent Hill 3, you can reload your weapons either live in-game or through the inventory menu. It is recommended to reload in the inventory when near enemies to avoid being interrupted. The game also features manual in-game reloads where Heather can reload without emptying a magazine. To do this, equip the desired ammo under the 'Supplies' tab in the inventory and press R3 during gameplay. However, it's advised to avoid this method around enemies and bosses unless you are certain it's safe, and to stick to inventory reloads instead.

Finding Items

Finding items in Silent Hill 3 is generally straightforward. Pay attention to suggestive camera angles and where Heather is looking. Keep your Flashlight on for better visibility. Ensure you check every door to search all rooms thoroughly for key items and supplies.

Using Items

Key items are automatically used when you examine the door they unlock, provided you have them in your inventory. For other items, you'll need to use them from your inventory while standing in front of the target object. Some items require combination before they can be used effectively. You can also examine certain items in your inventory for additional details and clues regarding their usage.

Combining Items

The item combination process is streamlined. Stand in front of your target, open your inventory, select the first item, and choose 'Combine'. Then, select the second item to mix them. For three-item combinations, combine the first two items and then use the third. You can add the final item to the mix, but it's an unnecessary step as whatever you use will be added to the existing combination. Items included in your mix are visible under the 'Items' tab on the left side of the inventory screen. Note that some items may show 'Combine' as an option even if they cannot be combined with anything else.

Examining Items

Several items have an 'Examine' option in your inventory, allowing Heather to inspect them closely and provide details or thoughts. This function is crucial for understanding where to use items and how to handle confusing ones. If you're unsure about an item, use the 'Examine' function to gain more information.

Equipping Items

Silent Hill 3 introduces the ability to equip items beyond just weapons, such as supplies, vests, silencers, and perfume. Equipping supplies like ammo and health items allows for in-game reloading and healing using R3. Other equippable items provide passive benefits when worn.

Extra Supplies

Silent Hill 3 features a variable supply system that provides additional ammo and health pickups in certain areas if you are struggling. This means you might find two First-Aid Kits instead of two Health Drinks. However, this system is not an invitation to waste supplies, as doing so will make the game harder.
