"Thus one's life turns to riches"

Find silver coins and a cryptic note in Silent Hill 3's Nightmare Hilltop Center and Onestop Imports. Learn its meaning.

In the Nightmare Hilltop Center, you can find several silver coins located on a desk. Additionally, a note is present on the wall near a vending machine in the northwest room of Onestop Imports on the 4th floor (4F).

The note reads:

"Thus one's life turns to riches:

What was a bag of silver coins is
now the number in a book.

Yet fate hath no price...
Ah, but do people know this?"

This note appears to be a reference to the film Session 9, specifically when the character Hank discovers old coins behind a wall in an asylum. He takes these coins in an attempt to escape, but the outcome is unfavorable. The line "Yet fate hath no price..." from the note may allude to this event. Heather, in contrast, chooses to take only one coin for the vending machine, avoiding a similar fate.
