Alright, you've just woken up in a nightmare – Irenicus' Dungeon. Don't worry, we'll get you out of here. After some nasty experiments, your old pal Imoen shows up to bust you out of that cage. She's a pretty solid Mage and a decent Thief, so she'll be super helpful with traps and locks.

Imoen's Thief skills are pretty much maxed out for opening things (OL: 95, FT: 95) and disabling traps (PP: 35, MS: 35), though her Hide in Shadows (HS) is a bit low at 25.
First things first, let's get you some gear. Head northwest from where you started. You can skip the Jailkeep Golem; it's just standing there. Look for a trap on the painting on the wall, disable it, and then unlock the painting. Inside, you'll snag a Dagger +1 and three Potions of Healing. If you've played before and kept them, you might even find the Golden Pantaloons!
In the room you started in, check the chest for some basic armor and the table for some basic weapons. Grab the Jail Cell Key while you're at it.
Now, head back to the previous room and use that key to free Jaheira. She's worth a good chunk of XP (3000XP) and is a much-improved Fighter/Druid this time around.

With her high Dexterity, Jaheira can really take a beating, especially with her Iron Skins spell.
Next up is Minsc. You can't open his cage directly, so tell him you're leaving him behind. He'll get mad, bend the bars, and free himself, giving you another 3000XP. He's a solid Ranger, especially with his Berserk ability.

Minsc is a powerhouse, but you might want to give him a mace and shield instead of a two-handed weapon for better defense.
Okay, head north from the Jail Golem's room. You can't open that door yet, so go west from the Prison Cells instead. You'll find a room with a lightning device. Three party members should take care of the Lightning Mephits that spawn, while the fourth person disables the device using the panel on the right. Quick and easy!
