Your Fallout 3 guide to the WKML Broadcast Station and surrounding areas. Learn how to find skill books, bobbleheads, and unique weapons while navigating Raiders and more.
Alright, let's head towards the WKML Broadcast Station. This area is a bit spread out, so stick with me. We'll be grabbing some useful skill books and a bobblehead along the way.
Walkthrough
- 1First things first, from SatCom Array NW-07c, head east until you hit the highway. You'll need to cross under it and then start climbing the eastern cliffs. Keep an eye out for Mirelurks while you're climbing. At the top, you'll find a ruined house crawling with Raiders. Take them out and loot the place. In the south-eastern corner, there's a metal shelf with some drugs and a copy of Tumblers Today. The north-eastern corner has ammo boxes, and you can find a Mini Nuke in the tub.
- 2Just south-east of this Raider House, you'll find more Raiders. Follow a road, pass a blue car, and climb a small hill. You'll see car barricades built into the hillside with heavily-armed Raiders, one of whom has a Missile Launcher. They've got some loot, but nothing as good as that skill book you just found.
- 3Now, head back to the Raider House and go to its western side. Look south-west towards the highway. You should see an orange and yellow truck on top of it. To get there, you can either head south to some rocks and leap across to the highway, or travel north-west until the highway meets the ground. Alternatively, from the Raider car barricades, head south where a mudslide acts as a ramp. Once you reach the truck, an explosion will likely eject the scientist who owned it. Find his remains to grab a Big Book of Science and some other goodies inside the truck.
- 4Next, from the Raider House, head east and then south-east up a hill to find Broadcast Tower KB5. Activate the electrical switch there to pick up Radio Signal Alfa Lima. Then, head south-east to a Drainage Chamber. Inside, you'll find a skeleton with a copy of Tumbler’s Today next to a door that requires an Average lockpick skill to open. Beyond it is a stash of loot. Be careful around here, as the Broadcast Tower KB5 is close to the Deathclaw Sanctuary, so you might run into a Deathclaw. If you do, a sneak attack critical with a Combat Shotgun is your best bet.
- 5After the Drainage Chamber, head east and south-east to the Deathclaw Sanctuary. It's probably best to sneak past and stay on high ground. We don't need the Bobblehead - Endurance yet. Continue mostly south-east to find Mount Mabel Campground. It's not much, but there's some loot in the trailers and on picnic tables. From there, head north-east to the Dickerson Tabernacle Chapel.
- 6At the Dickerson Tabernacle Chapel, you'll encounter a Drifter who likes to snipe from above. It's best to circle around to the west to get a better angle on him. Get right underneath him and use a Combat Shotgun or a 10mm Submachine Gun. Trying to snipe back is a bad idea at this stage. Inside the chapel, you'll find ammo boxes, a Combat Shotgun, and near three ammo boxes, a copy of Guns and Bullets. In a wooden crate under some Detergent, you'll find two Stimpaks. Search the Drifter for the Reservist’s Rifle.
- 7Now, head east and south-east towards the large towers in the distance – that's the WKML Broadcast Station. Circle around until you find stairs leading up to the Radio Tower Complex. Enter it and activate the Electrical Switch on the wall to pick up Radio Signal Kilo Bravo.
- 8Leave the Radio Tower Complex and head south over the cliff edge. Search the cliff face for a 'Drainage Grate to Sealed Cistern.' You can find it on your local map directly south of the Radio Tower complex. Inside, you'll find drugs, Purified Water, a Stealth Boy, and the Bobblehead - Explosives.
Tips
- Be cautious when climbing the eastern cliffs near SatCom Array NW-07c; Mirelurks can be a nuisance.
- The Raiders near the Raider House can be tough; make sure you're well-equipped before engaging.
- The scientist near the orange and yellow truck met an unfortunate end due to an explosion. Be mindful of your surroundings when approaching the truck.
- The area around Broadcast Tower KB5 is dangerous due to its proximity to the Deathclaw Sanctuary. Avoid Deathclaws if possible, but if not, a sneak attack critical with a Combat Shotgun is effective.
- When dealing with the Drifter at Dickerson Tabernacle Chapel, avoid a direct sniper duel and try to flank him.
- The 'Drainage Grate to Sealed Cistern' might be tricky to spot; use your Pip-Boy's local map if you're having trouble finding it.
