Explore Fallout 3's Level 10 perks: Animal Friend, Finesse, Here and Now, Mister Sandman, Mysterious Stranger, Nerd Rage!, and Night Person. Get detailed walkthroughs and tips.
- 1Animal Friend
Requirements: Level 10, Charisma 6. Ranks: 2. At the first rank, animals won’t attack. At the second rank, they will aid you in combat, but never against another animal. Affects Dog, Yao Guai, Mole Rat, and Brahmin.
- 2Finesse
Requirements: Level 10. Ranks: 1. Grants a higher chance to score a critical hit, equivalent to 5 extra points of Luck.
- 3Here and Now
Requirements: Level 10. Ranks: 1. Immediately grants an additional experience level.
- 4Mister Sandman
Requirements: Level 10, Sneak 60%. Ranks: 1. Allows silent kills on sleeping humans or Ghouls while in Sneak mode, earning bonus XP.
- 5Mysterious Stranger
Requirements: Level 10, Luck 6. Ranks: 1. Occasionally summons the Mysterious Stranger in V.A.T.S. mode, armed with a .44 Magnum, to assist in combat.
- 6Nerd Rage!
Requirements: Level 10, Intelligence 5, Science 50%. Ranks: 1. Raises Strength to 10 and grants 50% to damage resistance when Health drops to 20% or below.
- 7Night Person
Requirements: Level 10. Ranks: 1. Grants +2 to Intelligence and Perception (up to 10) when it is nighttime, both inside and outside.
- Animal Friend: Mole Rats and Brahmin can be melee’d to death without damage. The dog is not very dangerous. Yao Guai can be killed with a shotgun headshot or two, or a sneak attack critical. This perk is considered useless by some, except for potentially dangerous Brahmin.
- Finesse: An extra 5% chance to critically hit is beneficial, especially if planning to take the Better Criticals perk. It is compared to Strong Back, but with Luck instead of Strength.
- Here and Now: Considered a waste of a perk as players will likely reach level 30 before finishing the game.
- Mister Sandman: Enemies sleeping can often be killed in V.A.T.S. anyway. Sleeping enemies may detect you more easily. Most enemies won't be found sleeping, making it primarily useful for assassinating NPCs. The long-term XP gain is questionable.
- Mysterious Stranger: The perk is fun, and the Mysterious Stranger is fairly strong and cannot die, unlike in previous games. However, it is luck-based and not always reliable.
- Nerd Rage!: Raises Strength to 10 (useful for Melee Weapons or Unarmed) and halves damage taken if Damage Resistance (DR) is under 35% (85% cap). It makes the player powerful in melee combat but vulnerable due to low health. It might be useful for a Science-heavy, smart, unarmed character but generally leads to death.
- Night Person: The main benefit is skill bonuses from increased Intelligence. The perk provides a bonus only half the time and does not directly improve combat abilities, though it can increase threat detection range at night and provide extra skill points.
