Hey there! So, you're diving into Final Fantasy XV? Awesome choice! Before we get into the nitty-gritty of the walkthrough, it's pretty cool to know a bit about how this game came to be. It's got a bit of a wild history, actually!

Originally, back in 2006, this game wasn't even called Final Fantasy XV. It was known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII and was meant to be part of a larger series called Fabula Nova Crystallis. The legendary Tetsuya Nomura was at the helm at first, but later on, Hajime Tabata took over as director. The game was initially planned for the PlayStation 3, but development hit some serious snags. Technical hurdles and a generally troubled development cycle meant they had to make a big switch.

In 2012, the development team decided to move the game to the newer, eighth-generation consoles – the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This big shift was officially announced at E3 in 2013, and that's when it was rebranded as Final Fantasy XV, officially becoming the next main installment in the series. A little taste of what was to come arrived in March 2015 with a demo called Episode Duscae, which was included with Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. It gave players a chance to explore a small slice of the open world.

Things really started to ramp up the following year when an event was held. This is where the original worldwide release date of September 30, 2016, was revealed. Alongside this, they announced some cool tie-ins, like the CGI film Kingsglaive and the animation series Brotherhood, which really expanded the lore.

However, just before that September release date, director Tabata released a video explaining some news: the game was going to have a massive Day One patch. To make sure everyone, especially those with slower internet connections or no internet at all, could play the game smoothly from the start, they decided to delay the release. So, the game finally launched worldwide on November 29, 2016. And don't forget, there was also a Season Pass planned, which promised four pieces of downloadable content to further enrich your experience!
