The Cauthess to Alstor Loop (Part 1)

Complete the Cauthess to Alstor Loop (Part 1) in final fantasy xv. Pick up quests from Dave and Sania, find Mystery Map VIII, and more.

First, speak with the restaurateur at the Crow’s Nest Diner in the Cauthess Rest Area to update your map and check available hunts. The available hunts are: Hammer the Cannibals (Level 38), Things from the Past (Level 41), Baby Snatchers (Level 44), A Daemonic Orchestra (Level 52), Cruel Giants of Duscae (Level 65), Fiend of the Fallgrove (Level 66, only available after “Crestholm Tower”), and Devils Cry Curses (Level 72).

Next, head across the street southwest of the diner to find Dave. Speak with him to start the quest “A Rocky End,” which involves finding more Dog Tags.

From the diner, head southeast to a multi-level building. Go to the second floor to find Sania, who will give you the quest “The Professor’s Protégé - Yellow Frogs,” requiring you to find five yellow frogs.

Before leaving the Cauthess Rest Area, head northwest from the Diner towards some warehouses behind a fence. Enter the first warehouse closest to the caravan and search the metal shelves in the northeastern corner to find Mystery Map VIII, which starts the quest “Scraps of Mystery VIII.”

To the southeast of the Cauthess Rest Area is a crater containing the Archean’s Mirror Fishing Spot. Here you will also find “The Fisherman’s Friend” shop, selling items such as Spider Silk (30 Gil), Super Baleen (100 Gil), Dragon’s Beard (500 Gil), Bomber: Bomb (50 Gil), Bomber: Ice Bomb (50 Gil), Bomber: Thunder Bomb (50 Gil), Needle 1,000: Cactuar (50 Gil), Needle 1,000: Metal Cactuar (50 Gil), and Needle 1,000: Gold Cactuar (50 Gil).

Head northeast from the Cauthess Rest Area to find another crater. While this crater does not have a fishing spot, you can find Bulettes. Defeating them can yield Shield Spikes and Bulette Shanks, which will inspire Ignis to concoct the “Fried Frontier Skewer” recipe. Search the crater for a Treasure Spot containing an Ancient Dragon Tooth.

East of the Bulette Crater, cross the highway and continue east to find the Forgotten Pool Fishing Spot. Here you can catch Rainbow Trout and Spotted Catfish. The five Yellow Frogs Sania requires can be found around this pool: one on the northern end northwest of the Fishing Spot, a second near rocks on the western end, a third obscured by grass between rocks on the southern end, a fourth obscured by grass on a rocky shelf on the southeastern end, and a fifth on the northern end near a Treasure Spot, east of the Fishing Spot. Once you have all five frogs, plunder the nearby Treasure Spot for a Megalixir. Return to the Cauthess Rest Area to report to Sania. The reward for this quest is 4,000 EXP and a Rainbow Pendant.
