Learn how to acquire the powerful Bahamut Guardian Force in Final Fantasy VIII Remastered. This guide covers the Deep Sea Research Center, boss strategies, and rewards.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Land at the Deep Sea Research Center. Follow the walkway inside.
  2. 2
Advance towards the pulsing blue cylinder. Only move when the light is off to avoid random enemy encounters.
  3. 3
When you reach the cylinder, you will fight two Ruby Dragons. Use LV Down to weaken them and mitigate XP gains.
  4. 4
Continue towards the cylinder when it's not pulsing. A voice will ask you questions.
  5. 5
Respond with: _It’s not our will to fight_, then _Never_.
  6. 6
After these responses, you will fight another Ruby Dragon. If your party is low-level with good spells junctioned, this fight should be manageable. You can use LV Up to draw Flare and Meteor, or LV Down to avoid XP.
  7. 7
For the third question, scroll down to find the hidden answer: _It’s our nature…_.
  8. 8
This will trigger the boss fight against Bahamut.

Boss - Bahamut

  • Lv: 1-100
  • HP: 18,000 (Lv10), 26,000 (Lv20), 34,000 (Lv30), 90,000 (Lv100)
  • Weaknesses: None
  • Resistances: Gravity (immune), Poison (half damage), Thunder (immune), Water (immune), Wind (immune)
  • Status Resistances: Immune to most; Darkness 50%, Haste 0%, Reflect 0%, Regen 0%, Slow 10%, The End 0%
  • EXP:
  • AP: 40
  • Draw: Curaga, Dispel, Flare, Full-Life
  • Mug: Hyper Wrist
  • Drop: Hyper Wrist

Strategy:

  • Bahamut's Mega Flare attack can deal significant damage even at low levels.
  • Bahamut uses Thundaga and Tornado, which can be resisted or immunized against.
  • Inflicting Darkness has a 50% chance, but is not highly effective due to Bahamut's spell-based offense.
  • Bahamut is vulnerable to Slow. Consider junctioning Slow to your Status Attack.
  • Use the Aura spell on a character with a strong, multi-hit limit break (Irvine, Squall, or Zell).
  • Bahamut should be defeated with one or two limit breaks, especially with a high Strength score.
  • You can draw stocks of Full-Life from Bahamut.
  • 40 AP
  • Hyper Wrist
  • Bahamut Card
  • Bahamut Guardian Force

After defeating Bahamut, a hole will open in the floor, allowing you to descend further into the facility.
