Guide to Esthar in Final Fantasy VIII Remastered: Obtain the Ward Card, find Occult Fan IV, and discover shop gifts and inventory, including the rare Rosetta Stone.
Walkthrough
- 1Ward Card: Challenge Odine to a card game. He uses Esthar rules (Elemental). If you're using a safe rule set, mix them and try to spread Open or abolish Elemental. Otherwise, decline Odine until he plays with Esthar's rules. Keep playing until you win the Ward Card. This Level 10 card can be refined into three Gaea's Ring items (teach HP+80% to a GF) or kept for its defensive stats.
- 2Occult Fan IV: After securing the Ward Card, return to the exterior of the presidential palace. Exit left, and in the next screen (a three-way split), use the lift to Odine’s Laboratory. Choose _Via Airstation_ and then _Get off_ when prompted. Talk to the Presidential Aide (Esthar man in blue-gray). Afterward, use the lift back to the Presidential Palace, return inside, and talk to the woman outside Odine and Rinoa's room. Search the ground where she was standing to find Occult Fan IV.
- 3Esthar Shop Gifts: Leave the palace and exit to the right. Use the lift and select _Via the Shopping Mall_, then _Get off_ when prompted. Explore the shopping mall. Visiting all shops adds them to Tonberry’s Call Shop ability. Each store has a chance to give a gift upon visiting. If you don't receive a gift, exit the store menu and re-enter.

Tips:
- The Rosetta Stone from Cheryl’s Shop is rare but valuable, especially if you missed them from the D-District Prison. It's needed for the Ability x4 ability.
- While some shop gifts are inferior (like Hi-Potions), it's generally not worth going out of your way to hunt for the better ones, as these items can be purchased elsewhere or obtained through other means.
- Even if a shop is closed, it will still be added to Tonberry’s Call Shop menu.
- The Esthar Book Store sells various magazines, including
