Navigate Fisherman's Horizon in Final Fantasy VIII Remastered. Find Occult Fan III, Timber Maniacs issues, and learn about new card rules. Full walkthrough included.
Walkthrough
- 1Continue right through the initial screens until you reach a walkway encircling a large silo.
- 2On the right side of the walkway, find an elevator. Before using it, search the left side for a hard-to-see ladder.
- 3Climb down the ladder to a lower walkway. Head left and up to find another ladder.
- 4Climb up this ladder and exit to find the Master Fisherman.
- 5Talk to the Master Fisherman. Answer his questions as you wish, and he will give you Occult Fan III.
- 6Talk to him again to receive a quest to find his pupil at the docks.
- 7Return right and climb up to the walkway above. Continue right to the elevator and take it down.
- 8Once the elevator operator finishes talking, head right one screen, then continue right overlooking the solar dish.
- 9Exit right again to find a Save Point and a Regen draw point.
- 10Exit right one more time.
- 11Head to the docks and find the boy, "Fisherkid." Talk to him until he repeats himself. Respond with "Sort of," "I saw him," and "I was sort of… impressed" in order.
- 12Continue right and talk to the shopkeeper (FH Junk Shop).
- 13Return to the tracks and enter the inn (pay 100G). In your room, search the floor near the dresser to find Timber Maniacs 5.
- 14Exit the inn and continue up the tracks. Enter the "Grease Monkey" house to the right and search the floor to find Timber Maniacs 4.
- 15Exit the shop. If you head down some junk to the left, then up stairs and left, you'll find a train station with a Haste draw point.
- 16Return to the screen with the Save Point and save your game.
- 17From the Save Point, exit left, go down stairs towards the solar farm, and keep going right until you reach the house.
- 18Turn right again to find Martine, the former headmaster of Galbadia Garden, sitting on the edge of the platform.
- 19Challenge Martine to a card game. If you lost Ifrit earlier, you can win it back here.
Tips
- The ladders to reach the Master Fisherman can be difficult to spot due to their color and the game's resolution.
- The Fisherkid's dialogue choices are specific to progress his quest.
- Fisherman's Horizon introduces the Elemental and Sudden Death card rules. You may want to abolish the Elemental rule by playing with Martine and spreading Balamb's Open rule. Sudden Death is a relatively benign rule.
- Occult Fan III
- Timber Maniacs 5
- Timber Maniacs 4
- Ifrit (if lost previously)
- Access to FH Junk Shop
