Guide to The Tesseracts in final fantasy xiii, including strategies for Bandersnatch, Jabberwocky, Wladislaus, and Tiamat Eliminator.
Walkthrough
- 1Begin by facing the boss battle against Bandersnatch and Jabberwocky. It is recommended to defeat Bandersnatch first as it will regularly heal Jabberwocky to full health.
- 2Bandersnatch is immune to physical damage and resists magic damage, but can be inflicted with Imperil and Deshell. It has LV 9 / 254,250 HP, 781 STR / 781 MAG, 200% Stagger, 50 Chain Resistance, and drops Moonblossom Seed (common) or Starblossom Seed (rare).
- 3Jabberwocky is immune to magic and takes half damage from physical attacks, but can be inflicted with Deprotect, Slow, and Poison. It is weak against all elements. It has LV 14 / 678,000 HP, 1,765 STR / 1,765 MAG, 300% Stagger, 70 Chain Resistance, and drops Moonblossom Seed (common) or Starblossom Seed (rare).
- 4To start the fight, have Fang use Imperil on both enemies, Deshell on the smaller one (Bandersnatch), and Deprotect on the larger one (Jabberwocky). Switch to a RAV/COM/RAV setup to focus damage on the larger Woodwraith (Jabberwocky). Even with its higher Chain Gauge, it is easier to Stagger than the smaller Woodwraith. The smaller one will attempt to heal the larger one, but your damage output should prevent it from keeping up. Once Bandersnatch is defeated, proceed to defeat Jabberwocky.
- 5After the battle, you can obtain Aegisol. Proceed towards the Save Point for a scene, save your game, then go down the ramp for another scene.
- 6The next section consists of six rings, with your destination marker straight ahead. Before proceeding, collect two accessories: Smash the first enemy you see, an Immortal, which guards a teleport.
- 7Enter the teleport to reach an area with two Treasure Balls containing the Weirding Glyph (MAG+150) and the Adamant Bangle (HP+800).
- 8Take the next warp to an area with two Treasure Balls containing Scarletite and Elixir.
- 9Take the final warp to return to the original six-ring area.
- 10You will encounter five more enemy configurations: 2x Aquila Velocycle / A, 2x Sacrifice + 4x Dagonite / A, Megrim Thresher + Sanctum Templar / A, 3x Sacrifice + 3x Dagonite / D, and 2x Sacrifice + Megrim Thresher / A. You can choose to avoid or fight these enemies. You can walk below the last Thresher before reaching the next Save Point.
- 11Save your game, use Fortisol and Aegisol, then check the floating statue.
- 12Proceed to the boss battle against Wladislaus. Wladislaus is weak against elements but has a high stagger point and is susceptible to Daze, though the chance to inflict it is low.
- 13Wladislaus has LV 15 / 734,500 HP, 2,735 STR / 2,735 MAG, 999% Stagger, 95 Chain Resistance, and drops Cie’th Tear (25% common) or Tear of Woe (5% rare). It is weak against all elements and takes half damage from magic attacks.
- 14A recommended party is Light, Fang, and Sazh. Utilize the Random-Instant Chain ability. Equip two Speed Sashes to each character fighting. At the start of the battle, use a COM/SAB/COM setup so Fang can inflict Slow, Deprotect, and Deshell on Wladislaus. This enemy has powerful physical attacks; a regular swipe deals about 2500 damage, and its Contempt attack deals a whopping 4500 damage. When Wladislaus charges for a swipe, switch to a setup with SEN to greatly reduce the damage. With Deprotect and Deshell active, you can defeat Wladislaus even without Random-Instant Chain.
- 15After the fight, take the ramp up to collect 3000 GIL from a Treasure Ball.
- 16Proceed to another battle: Wladislaus + Sanctum Templar / A. Collect 5,000 GIL from the Treasure Ball.
- 17Continue to the battle: Jabberwocky + Bandersnatch / F. Jump up the ledge and turn right.
- 18Face the battle: 3x Sanctum Templar.
- 19Save at the Save Point, use Fortisol and Aegisol, then check the floating statue.
- 20Finally, face the boss battle against Tiamat Eliminator. Tiamat Eliminator is similar to Ushumgal Subjugator, with Napalm replaced by Ice Grenade.
- 21Tiamat Eliminator has LV 52 / 3,825,000 HP, 700 STR / 0 MAG, 200% Stagger, 75 Chain Resistance, and drops Imperial Armlet (common). It takes half damage from all elements.
- 22A recommended party is Light, Fang, and Sazh. Tiamat Eliminator is not very damaging at the start, making it easy to Stagger. When it lands on the ground and switches forms, some of its status immunities are lost. Quickly switch to a COM/SAB/HLR setup and have Fang inflict Deprotect, Deshell, Slow, and Imperil on the boss (at least the first two debuffs). Buffing your characters is not recommended as Tiamat has two attacks that dispel buffs. Once debuffs are applied, switch back to RAV/COM/RAV, Stagger it again, and defeat it.
Tips
- Focus on defeating Bandersnatch first in the initial boss encounter as it can heal Jabberwocky.
- Inflict Imperil and Deshell on Bandersnatch to increase spell damage.
- Inflict Deprotect, Slow, and Poison on Jabberwocky.
- Use a Sentinel (SEN) role during Wladislaus's powerful physical attacks to mitigate damage.
- Avoid buffing your party against Tiamat Eliminator, as it has attacks that dispel buffs.
- Collect the Weirding Glyph and Adamant Bangle from the teleporter area.
- Remember to use Fortisol and Aegisol before challenging bosses.
