Master the Fingers of Stone mission in Final Fantasy XIII. Learn enemy weaknesses, optimal strategies, and find key items like the Partisan weapon to conquer Gran Pulse.

Alright, so you're heading through Vallis Media in Chapter 11 and you've hit the 'Fingers of Stone' section. Don't worry, it's not as tough as it sounds! Just keep your wits about you and follow along.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
As soon as you round the corner, you'll run into four Alraunes. They look a bit creepy, but they're basically tougher versions of the Noctilucales you've already dealt with. They're a bit weak to both Ice and Fire spells, but they'll soak up Water attacks like a sponge, so stick to Ice and Fire. Don't forget about the Blitz attack either – it'll help you clear them out quickly.
  2. 2
Keep pushing forward a bit more, and you'll encounter a standard Flan. These guys have a neat trick: when they get low on health, they like to combine into a much bigger, nastier Dire Flan. Your best bet here is to use Fire spells. Definitely avoid Lightning and Water attacks, as they absorb Lightning and are immune to Water.
  3. 3
You'll then face a mix of Alraunes and another Flan. Honestly, even together, they're not too much of a threat, so just keep up the pressure.
  4. 4
Continue through the canyon. You'll eventually spot a lone Dire Flan guarding a treasure chest. Take it down, and inside you'll find the Partisan weapon for Fang. This is a pretty sweet upgrade, giving her +50 Strength and +200 HP passively. Grab it and keep moving.
  5. 5
After that, you'll see more Flans and Alraunes scattered around. Just power through them. Your next big stop is the waypoint marker. Once you reach it, you'll find a very distressed Hope.
  6. 6
Important: Right after you reach Hope, you'll be thrown into another Eidolon battle. Before that happens, make sure to restart the battle so you can properly sort out your Paradigms and Hope's Crystarium. It's a good idea to equip Hope with an accessory that boosts HP and maybe invest in some HP nodes in his Crystarium.
  7. 7
Recommended Paradigms for the upcoming fight:
    1. SYN/MED/SEN (this is usually your default setup)
  8. 8
    MED/MED/SEN
  9. 9
    RAV/RAV/COM
Tips
  • Remember that Alraunes are weak to Ice and Fire, and Flans are best dealt with using Fire. Don't waste your time with Water on Alraunes or Lightning on Flans.
  • The Partisan is a great weapon for Fang, so make sure you grab it!
  • Don't forget to set up your Paradigms and buff Hope before the Eidolon battle – it makes a huge difference.
