Learn how to complete the Shiva Ice Chronolith Trial in Final Fantasy XVI. Find The Hand of Rhea, prepare your equipment and abilities, and master each stage.

The Shiva Trial by Ice Chronolith, known as The Hand of Rhea, is located in The Angry Gap within the Kingdom of Waloed. Head to the southern part of the left section of this area to find a path leading to the Chronolith.

Preparation: Before starting the trial, ensure your game is saved and you are fully prepared. While you cannot change abilities mid-trial, you can change equipment. It is highly recommended to progress the Main Quest to its final stages to unlock all Side Quests, including Blacksmith’s Blues IV, which grants the recipe for the powerful Gotterdammerung weapon. Having the best available equipment and fully upgraded Shiva abilities will significantly ease the trial.

Recommended Equipment:

• Weapon: Gotterdammerung (Crafted after completing Blacksmith’s Blues IV)
• Belt: Ouroboros (Crafted from recipe from Blacksmith’s Blues III)
• Vambraces: The Founder’s Grasp (Reward for Where There’s a Will) or The Sons of Ouroboros
• Accessory 1: Berserker Ring (Reward for 85 Renown) or Genji Gloves
• Accessory 2 & 3: Stage Ability Accessories (e.g., The Breath of Ice, The Favor of Ice, The Will of Ice, Shiva’s Kiss) to enhance Shiva abilities.

Recommended Abilities: Ensure all of Shiva’s abilities are upgraded. You will be forced to use them all, and their enhanced versions will be crucial.

Stage 1 Walkthrough:

For Stage 1, you will have Rime and Mesmerize available. Equip accessories that enhance these abilities, such as The Will of Ice (Rime) and The Will of Ice (Mesmerize).

Focus on achieving time bonuses:

• Snap Shatter: Time Cold Snap just before an enemy is defeated.
• Collateral Rime: Hit three enemies with a single Rime by grouping them up.
• Permafrost: Use Cold Snap at the last moment (similar to a Precision Dodge) to freeze targets.
• Collateral Mesmerize: Hit two enemies with Mesmerize.
• Standard Bonuses: Perform a Punish, finish an enemy with an ability, execute a Precision Dodge, and land at least 10 Magic Bursts.

Achieving these bonuses will grant significant time bonuses, making Stage 1 easier to complete quickly.
