FF16: Master Titanic Block for Untouchable Trophy

Alright, let's talk about the Untouchable trophy in Final Fantasy XVI. To even start thinking about this, you'll need to have reached the 'Bolts from the Blue' main quest. If you're not there yet, no worries – you can check our full main quest list to see where you're at. After you finally go toe-to-toe with Hugo Kupka, the Eikon of the Titan, Clive will absorb some of his power, including the awesome Titanic Block ability.

Think of Titanic Block as your go-to move for the Titan Eikon tree, just like Phoenix Shift or Deadly Embrace. The best part? You can use it whenever you want, no cooldowns! You get it right away, no need for upgrades. But hey, if you do decide to master it, blocking attacks will actually add to your Limit Break gauge, which is pretty sweet.

Now, there are actually two ways to block with this ability: the regular Titanic Block and the Precision Block. Holding down the Circle button (<0xC2><0x98>) will give you a standard Titanic Block. This is great for blocking most incoming attacks. On the other hand, a Precision Block happens if you nail the timing and press Circle (<0xC2><0x98>) *just* as an enemy attack is about to land. Don't stress too much about only doing Precision Blocks; both types count towards the Untouchable trophy!

Once you've attuned to the Titan Eikon ability tree, you'll have Titanic Block set to your Circle button (<0xC2><0x98>). After a successful Precision Block, you can even pull off some cool counters by landing a few hits right after. These work like this:

Titanic Counter: Land 1 blow after a Precision Block.
Titanic Counter 2: Land 2 blows after a Precision Block.
Titanic Counter 3: Land 3 blows after a Precision Block.

It's pretty straightforward once you get the rhythm down – just hit the enemy a specific number of times after blocking. You'll deal more damage with each follow-up hit, up to three. A cool bonus with Precision Blocks is that you'll also damage the enemy and can even stagger them briefly. Keep in mind, though, not every attack can be blocked, especially the heavy hitters during boss fights. You'll have to get a feel for which attacks are blockable, but generally, most attacks from smaller enemies are fair game.

You can hold Circle (<0xC2><0x98>) to keep your block stance up, which lets you block most attacks from most enemies for as long as you need. It's your safety net!

Unlocking this trophy should be pretty smooth sailing once you have Titanic Block. Your main goal is to find enough enemies to attack you at least 10 times so you can block them all. Pro-tip: it's way easier if it's just you and Torgal. If other party members are around, they might finish off enemies before they get a chance to attack you. You can even stop Torgal from attacking by spamming his heal skill with the Square button (<0xE2><0x96><0xA1>).
