How to Complete the Odin: Trial by Darkness

Complete the Odin: Trial by Darkness Chronolith in final fantasy xvi. Find The Hand of Enceladus in Waloed and prepare with recommended gear and abilities.

Location:

The Odin Chronolith, named The Hand of Enceladus, is located in Waloed. From the Vidargraes Obelisk, head southeast into the Badbach Conservatory. Proceed past the church and continue southeast into a small open area. The Chronolith is at the back of this area, near the cliff edge.

Preparation:

It is recommended to attempt this trial during the 'Back to Their Origin' main scenario quest, as your current equipment and abilities will carry over. Upgrading the respective abilities for each stage is also highly beneficial.

Equipment:

For the best results during the final stages of the game, equip the Gotterdammerung sword (crafted from the blueprint obtained by completing the Blacksmith’s Blues IV Side Quest), the Ouroboros Belt (crafted from the recipe from the Blacksmith’s Blues III Side Quest), and The Founder’s Ring (reward from the Where There’s a Will Side Quest).

The Berserker Ring is highly recommended for its attack boost and Precision Dodge alteration. If you dislike the altered dodge animation, consider the Genji Gloves for a 5% damage bonus or the Adamantite Gauntlets for an extra 500 HP.

The remaining two accessory slots should be used for stage-specific ability accessories. For Stage 1, equip The Favor of Darkness (Heaven’s Cloud) and The Breath of Darkness (Gungnir).

Odin Accessory List:

• The Favor of Darkness (Heaven’s Cloud): Increases Heaven’s Cloud will damage by 15%. Buy from the Shop at Northreach in Sanbreque.
• The Breath of Darkness (Rift Slip): Reduces Rift Slip cooldown time by 0.5 seconds. Buy from the Shop at the Dalimil Inn in Dhalmekia.
• The Breath of Darkness (Heaven’s Cloud): Reduces Heaven’s Cloud cooldown time by 2.5 seconds. Buy from the Shop at Boklad in Dhalmekia, or as a reward from the Three’s Company Side Quest.
• The Pull of Darkness (Dancing Steel): Increases the rate at which Dancing Steel fills Zantetsuken gauge by 25%. Drop from the boss during the Streets of Madness Main Quest.
• The Will of Darkness (Gungnir): Increases Gungnir will damage by 30%. Buy from the Tabor merchant after defeating Odin for 50,000 Gil.
• The Breath of Darkness (Gungnir): Reduces Gungnir cooldown time by 2.0 seconds. Reward from the Nobody’s Tool Side Quest.
• The Will of Darkness (Dancing Steel): Increases Dancing Steel will damage by 20%. Reward for completing the Odin Chronolith Trial.

Trial by Darkness - Stage 1 Walkthrough:

Stage 1 features Odin’s Gungnir and Heaven’s Cloud abilities. Equip The Favor of Darkness (Heaven’s Cloud) and The Will of Darkness (Gungnir) accessories.

Upgrade both Heaven’s Cloud and Gungnir. If you lack sufficient ability points, you can reset other abilities and reallocate them after the trial.

The trial-specific battle techniques for this stage are Lv 5 Zantetsuken, Full Cloud, Full Gungnir, and Steel Counter. You gain a 15-second bonus for every fully charged Zantetsuken, 5 seconds for a successful parry with Steel Counter, and 12 seconds each for repeatedly pressing the attack button during Gungnir and Heaven’s Cloud abilities (attacks can be prolonged).

Regular battle techniques available include Precision Dodge and Punish.
