The Flame Lizard in Final Fantasy XVI shares similarities with the Fafnir boss, but is a distinct enemy. Despite its fiery nature and self-immolation during battle, it can be attacked normally without taking damage from its flames.

• The Flame Lizard is a fire-type enemy.
• It shares many attacks with the Fafnir boss but introduces new moves.
• Its flames do not harm the player directly.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: The Flame Lizard uses its standard attacks.
2. Phase 2 (Below 50% HP): The Flame Lizard enters Overdrive, using a series of enhanced attacks.

Strategy:

• General: If you struggled with Fafnir, expect a similar but tougher fight. Focus on dodging its attacks, especially when it uses Incense.
• Head Bash: Dodge slightly after the boss lunges its head forward.
• Tail Swipe: Dodge twice if positioned behind the boss, as it sweeps its tail in both directions.
• Leg Stomp: This attack is telegraphed and relatively easy to avoid.
• Rolling Attack: When on the boss's side, either move away or towards its front/back to avoid being rolled over.
• Jumping Ball Smash: This attack is well-telegraphed and easy to dodge.
• Incense: The boss covers itself in fire, empowering its attacks and pushing the player back without damage. The Jumping Ball Smash may occur multiple times consecutively.
• Firewater: The boss spews a fire laser that sweeps the arena. Dodge through it with precise timing. With Incense active, a second laser in the opposite direction is added.
• Overdrive: Triggered at around half health, this phase begins with two fire lasers (vertical and horizontal), followed by a claw swipe that can launch the player into the air. If launched, the subsequent Jumping Ball Smash will hit. The phase ends with a ground slam causing a small explosion.
• Late Fight: The double laser attack becomes standard, and the Jumping Ball Smash gains additional hits.
• Precision Dodge: Timing dodges correctly can result in a Precision Dodge, allowing for counter-attacks.
