Song of Hope

Follow our walkthrough for Final Fantasy XVI's 'Song of Hope' quest. Discover Cid's invention, search Mid's workshop, and investigate the Orchestrator.

Alright, so you've just finished up some business and now it's time to track down something Cid left behind. First things first, head back to The Hideaway. You'll find Otto hanging around near the Hunts Board, just like always. He'll point you towards Mid's workshop, telling you to look for any clues about Cid's notes. This kicks off a little side task called 'Like Father, Like Daughter'.

Make your way upstairs to the workshop. As you come down the steps, you'll see a quest marker. Interact with that pile of books to start your search. Keep moving forward a bit until you reach the next marker, which is on a table with Cid's old smokes. Next, check the shelf near the stairs – you're looking for a doll. Inside that doll, you'll find a note from Cid. It'll tell you to check out Mid's first invention to find the missing piece.

Head back upstairs to chat with Otto again. He'll then send you to check out the Orchestrator machine. When you get close to it, a couple of kids will mention it's making a weird noise. Go investigate the machine, and a note along with a part will pop out. That's pretty much it for finding the item! All that's left is to return to Mid.

Before you head out, it's a good idea to grab any supplies you might need from The Hideaway, as you won't be able to come back here for a little while. When you're all set, open up the world map and select 'Full Steam' to move on to the next main story quest.
