Discover the best Ramuh Eikon abilities in Final Fantasy XVI. Learn about Blind Justice, Pile Drive, Thunderstorm, Lightning Rod, and Judgment Bolt to optimize your combat strategy.

This guide breaks down the abilities of the Ramuh Eikon in Final Fantasy XVI, helping you choose the most effective ones for your combat style.

Ramuh Ability Breakdown

Blind Justice

Blind Justice is a Circle Button ability that requires significant setup, making it less ideal for Final Fantasy XVI's fast-paced combat. Upgrading it increases the number of targets it can lock onto. When activated, Clive floats and a targeting reticule appears. Enemies lined up within this reticule are marked, and Blind Justice deals minimal damage, leaving behind lightning orbs on struck targets. These orbs can be discharged by subsequent attacks. While useful for marking multiple targets, Blind Justice is considered one of the less effective Eikon abilities, especially when limited to three equipped Eikons. It's recommended to master preferred Ramuh abilities and equip them on Eikons with more impactful skills, such as Phoenix or Garuda, once more Eikons are available.

Pile Drive

Pile Drive is highly effective when facing multiple enemies clustered together. Upon activation, Clive slams his staff into the ground, causing knockback and damage to all enemies within its radius. This ability synergizes well with Blind Justice, as it can trigger the discharge of previously placed lightning orbs. Upgrading Pile Drive increases its radius and the number of hits, significantly enhancing its effectiveness, especially when surrounded. Skilled players can use Pile Drive to momentarily launch enemies into the air, allowing for a timed Sic command from Torgal to extend their airborne state for an Aerial Combo. Pile Driver is considered superior to Thunderstorm due to its area-of-effect capabilities.

Thunderstorm

Thunderstorm is a relatively basic ability that stands out less among Final Fantasy XVI's diverse skillset. When used, Clive spins his staff in the air and summons lightning bolts onto a single target, knocking them down. It functions adequately as a ranged magical attack but offers little else. Upgrading Thunderstorm increases the number of lightning strikes, but this does not fundamentally alter its function. Therefore, it's not a high priority for AP investment. Thunderstorm can serve as a launcher, similar to Burning Blade, especially if players are less confident with the latter. Using Thunderstorm near a target can launch them into the air for an Aerial Combo before the lightning strikes hit. However, Pile Drive's area-of-effect capabilities are generally preferred.

Lightning Rod

Lightning Rod, while requiring practice to master, is one of the most potent abilities in the game, particularly during Stagger phases. When activated, Clive places a ball of lightning that can be targeted by both Clive and enemies. When struck, it discharges an electrical storm around it. Upgrading Lightning Rod increases the range of this discharge, a crucial upgrade that should be acquired early on. Mastering this ability is highly recommended. The optimal use of Lightning Rod involves staggering an enemy, placing the lightning rod while they are down, and then activating Limit Break and other skills. Being close to the staggered enemy ensures most attacks and abilities hit the lightning rod, significantly boosting damage during the Stagger phase. It's advised to master Lightning Rod when the fourth Eikon is unlocked and equip it on a different Eikon set due to Blind Justice's limitations.

Judgment Bolt

Judgment Bolt, like most ultimate Eikon abilities, focuses on delivering substantial regular and Will damage at the cost of a long cooldown. Upon activation, Clive conjures a massive levinbolt that he slams down, creating a large explosion that also affects nearby enemies. Upgrading Judgment Bolt increases the number of bolts that strike from the sky, hitting more enemies within the resulting explosion. The primary drawbacks of Judgment Bolt are the significant AP investment required, similar to other ultimate abilities, and its long cooldown period.
