The Liquid Flame is one of the more challenging bosses in Final Fantasy XVI. Prioritize defensive play to learn its attacks, especially Fiery Impact, which follows certain combos. Be mindful of your positioning, as the lava around the arena's rim deals continuous damage.

• The boss has three distinct phases.
• Transitions between phases are telegraphed.
• The Heatwave Counter is effective against Firaga for significant stagger damage.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Focus on learning basic attacks like Double Stomp and Melee Combo. Fiery Impact follows Melee Combo.
2. Phase 2: Introduced after the first stagger. Features Wyvern Flamethrower (after Double Stomp) and Coeurl Flame Spin (after Melee Combo). Fiery Impact may be used more frequently.
3. Phase 3: Occurs after Eleventh Hour. Introduces Flagrant Wyvern (divebomb) and Flagrant Coeurl (charge attack).

Strategy:

• General: Play defensively initially to learn attack patterns. Avoid standing in lava.
• Double Stomp: Dodge both stomps before retaliating.
• Melee Combo: Evade both hits. In Phase 1, expect Fiery Impact afterward.
• Fiery Impact: Recognize this teleporting ground pound that follows other moves.
• Firaga: Dodge the fireball and consider using Heatwave Counter for stagger damage.
• Eructation: Avoid the fire spewing from circles on the ground. Multiple circles appear in later phases.
• Wyvern Flamethrower: Avoid the flames during this wyvern transformation attack.
• Coeurl Flame Spin: Step away from the boss when it transforms into a coeurl and spins.
• Eleventh Hour (around 33% HP): This special attack begins with four coeurls dashing, followed by four wyverns using flamethrowers moving inwards. Try to get between them to dodge. It concludes with a large ground eruption; back away to avoid it. The boss is temporarily stunned after this attack.
• Flagrant Wyvern: Dodge the quick divebomb attack in Phase 3.
• Flagrant Coeurl: Dodge the charge attack from the edge of the arena in Phase 3.
