Learn how to unlock the Fistful of Steel trophy in Final Fantasy XVI by mastering Odin's Arm of Darkness and performing three Flash of Steels against a durable enemy like an Ogre.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Ensure you have acquired Odin, which happens near the end of the game after completing the main quest "The Last King."
  2. 2
Ideally, attempt this trophy during the main quests "Brotherhood" or "Back to Their Origin," as these allow for more exploration.
  3. 3
    Equip Odin as your Eikon.
  4. 4
(Optional but recommended) Equip the "Will-o'-the-Wykes" ability on one of Odin's slots to absorb damage and provide a safety net.
  5. 5
Seek out an Ogre. A good location is southeast of the Vidargraes obelisk in Waloed.
  6. 6
Engage the Ogre. If using Will-o'-the-Wykes, activate it to absorb damage.
  7. 7
Activate Odin's Eikonic Feat, "Arm of Darkness." The Arm of Darkness icon will glow, and Clive's weapon will change to Odin's blade. Remember to reactivate this ability if you switch Eikons.
  8. 8
While Arm of Darkness is active, perform a parry against the Ogre's attacks.
  9. 9
Immediately after a successful parry, perform a counterattack to execute a "Flash of Steel."
  10. 10
Repeat this process three times within the same battle. The trophy does not require three consecutive successful Flash of Steels, just three total.
Tips
  • Ogres are ideal targets because their attacks (horizontal swing, vertical smash, charge) are slow, have clear windups, and they lack ranged attacks. The charge can be dodged.
  • Will-o'-the-Wykes makes the Ogre's slow attacks almost harmless, allowing you to focus on timing your parries.
  • If you miss a parry, the Ogre's attacks are slow enough that you can often recover or dodge.
  • Practice the timing of the parry and the subsequent counterattack to reliably perform Flash of Steel.
  • If you switch Eikons, ensure you reactivate Arm of Darkness before attempting more Flash of Steels.
