Master the Titan boss fight in Final Fantasy XVI! Learn Ifrit's moves, Titan's attacks like Geocrush and Voice of the Land, and effective strategies for each phase.
Alright, let's get you prepped for the big Titan fight in Final Fantasy XVI! This is your first Eikon vs. Eikon showdown, and you'll be controlling Ifrit. You've got some solid mobility here, so don't forget you can dash around – just hold down the Circle button and push a direction on the analog stick. You probably won't need it constantly, but it's good to have in your back pocket for emergencies. Keep an eye out for those cinematic action prompts that pop up during the fight, too!
The Titan fight is actually broken into three main encounters, and the first one has two distinct phases. He'll introduce a few new moves in the second phase, but he'll still be using most of the attacks from the first phase.
All Titan Attacks in Final Fantasy XVI
Geocrush
Titan kicks this one off by charging at you, then leaping up and slamming into the ground. This causes a bunch of rocks to burst out of the earth all around him. Heads up, he'll slightly track your position as he runs, so be ready to move when you see him coming. The best way to dodge this is to hold down the Circle button and dash away from Titan.
Tip: Dashing away with Circle is your best bet to escape Geocrush.
Jumping Fist Smash
Titan just jumps forward and punches the ground. This one's pretty slow, so you should have an easy time sidestepping it. Remember, most of his attacks have a bit of an extra splash damage zone because of the rocks that get kicked up from the impact.
Double Stomp
If you're standing close, Titan might lift a leg to stomp the ground, then immediately follow up with the other leg. Just remember this attack comes in pairs – so even if you dodge the first stomp, be ready to dodge the second one right after.
Voice of the Land
Titan lets out a roar that'll temporarily stun you, and you'll see blue spots appear on the ground. Crystals will then erupt from these spots, and you'll need to dodge them. The placement of these spots is pretty random, so they won't always be in the same places. This one can be a bit tricky because you're stunned when it starts, but spamming your evade button (Circle) should see you through.
Tip: Voice of the Land covers a wide area, so dodge accordingly.
Kick Stomp Combo
When you're up close, Titan might pull one leg back to kick the ground in front of him, then follow up by stomping that same leg down as it returns. Dodge the initial kick's hit, then back off until he finishes the stomp.
Rock Toss
Titan will drag his hand along the ground, flinging rocks your way. He'll do this with each hand, so expect two separate rocks to come at you. They're not too difficult to avoid, though.
Tip: Titan will throw two rocks at you if you stay at a distance.
Arm Sweep
He'll sweep his arm across the ground, causing rocks to pop up wherever he makes contact. This seems to happen more often if you're to his side or behind him, but you might see it even when you're in front. It's not too hard to dodge either way. Just be aware there's a backhand version and a forehand version of this attack.
Running Tackle
Titan will likely start the second phase of this fight by charging straight at you, basically plowing along the ground in an attempt to tackle you. It's not super hard to dodge, especially since you have great mobility as Ifrit.
Earthshaker
This attack often follows others. Titan slams the ground, creating two shockwaves that travel in a straight line, forming a V-shape. These shockwaves are accompanied by rocks shooting up from the ground. If you're close, it's probably best to dodge to Titan's sides. If you're further away, you might be able to just stay in the middle.
Tip: The running tackle attack will happen after you learn Brimstone.
Stripmine
Titan digs both hands into the ground and then pulls them up, bringing a lot of debris with them. This attack isn't super common, and you can easily dodge it by moving to either side.
Strategy for the Titan Boss in FFXVI
As expected, you'll be controlling Ifrit in this epic clash against Titan, and all your movement abilities from the Typhon fight are still yours. Despite his massive size, Titan is surprisingly mobile, so don't get caught off guard by his movements. The first phase of this battle is pretty standard, with nothing too out of the ordinary. The attacks here are slow enough that you shouldn't have much trouble dodging them, just remember that the Double Stomp is a two-part attack. Geocrush is also incredibly easy to avoid because there's such a big wind-up before he actually slams down.
However, Voice of the Land can be a bit annoying. You've got those semi-randomly placed spots on the ground where the rocks erupt, plus you're stunned by the roar itself. After you stagger Titan for the first time, he'll move to the far end of the arena and start hurling boulders at you, which are super easy to dodge. He'll then power up, which in turn powers you up and teaches you the Brimstone attack. This is a special move, similar to the Eikon abilities you use as Clive, and it's assigned to Square + X.
Tip: After the first stagger, Titan will start throwing boulders.
