Follow our detailed walkthrough to complete 'The Promontory' side quest in Horizon Forbidden West, including defeating Stalkers and finding key items.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Start the quest by talking to Bree in Plainsong after completing the main quest 'The Eye of the Earth'.
  2. 2
Head northeast to the marked search area. Follow the bound log walkway uphill.
  3. 3
At the plateau, defeat the Grazers and Skydrifters.
  4. 4
Cross the ruined bridge to the east. Scan and examine footprints.
  5. 5
Follow the path north, examining debris at the bottom of a waterfall.
  6. 6
Climb the cliff to the left of the waterfall and enter the cave atop the ridge.
  7. 7
Head south, cross a bridge, and follow the winding trail up the mountain, looking for Utaru craftsmanship (bound bamboo arches).
  8. 8
Turn west and climb a cliff. Cross the bridge to the north/northwest.
  9. 9
Climb further west, then turn southwest to find the Stone Table.
  10. 10
Scan the Stone Table, then scan and examine tracks and flowers. Scan, tag, and follow the resulting track uphill to the south.
  11. 11
Scan some branches, then scan, tag, and follow more tracks.
  12. 12
    Examine the corpses.
  13. 13
Defeat the two Stalkers. Stalkers are weak to Shock damage. Their Stealth Generators and Dart Guns are back-mounted weak points that can be detached.
  14. 14
Loot a Utaru Seed Pouch from the corpses and a Greenshine Shard from a nearby rock.
  15. 15
Return to Plainsong and present the evidence.
  16. 16
Head to the marked Campfire south of Plainsong and proceed to Summerwind.
  17. 17
Find Kel on the upper floor and talk to him to end the quest.
Tips
  • Stalkers are weak to Shock damage. Using Shock arrows can stun them, allowing for component removal or Critical Strikes.
  • Detaching a Stalker's Dart Gun allows you to use it against them.
  • Detaching a Stalker's Stealth Generator compromises its ability to ambush.
