Learn how to find and override the Landfall Tallneck in Horizon Forbidden West. This guide details reaching the Isle of Spires, retrieving Power Converters, and climbing the Tallneck.
Walkthrough
- 1Locate the Landfall Tallneck on the Isle of Spires, west of the mainland. Access to the island requires progressing through the Faro’s Tomb main story quest. Travel to the western coast of the mainland and take a boat to the Isle of Spires. The Tallneck is to the east, in the water.
- 2Approach the Tallneck and dive underwater to examine its back. You'll find two empty sockets.
- 3Swim northeast to the ruins of submerged buildings to find the Glinthawk nests containing the components.
- 4On the first building, defeat the Glinthawk. Shoot the latch on the ladder to extend it, then push a nearby crate into the water to reach the top. Cross the rope and hop across a gap to the southeast. Use the grapple point to reach another nest.
- 5Defeat the second Glinthawk and search its scavenging pile to find the first Power Converter.
- 6For the second Power Converter, head northeast to another nest. Use stealth to approach, as Snapmaws patrol the waters. Hide in kelp if necessary.
- 7Climb onto the ruins and find a grapple point by some beams to reach a higher spot. Sneak up on the Glinthawk ahead and perform a Silent Strike.
- 8Grapple to the next tier and search the scrap pile to find the second Power Converter.
- 9Return to the Tallneck and place both Power Converters into the empty sockets on its back.
- 10The Tallneck will activate and move towards nearby ruins to the east. Swim underwater and find an opening on either side of the ruined building to enter.
- 11Ascend the stairs inside to reach the roof. Lower the retracted ladder on the side of the building before attempting to jump.
- 12Wait for a clear jump, then leap onto the moving Tallneck and climb to the top to Override it. This will reveal the map of the Isle of Spires.
Tips
- Use your Focus to spot enemies and components, especially when dealing with underwater threats like Snapmaws.
- The kelp in the water can provide cover from Snapmaws when approaching the second nest.
- Ensure you lower the ladder on the ruined building before attempting to jump onto the Tallneck, as it provides a crucial fallback if you miss.
