Learn how to find and climb The Stand of the Sentinels Tallneck in Horizon Forbidden West. This guide covers reaching the abandoned settlement and overriding the machine.
Walkthrough
- 1The Stand of the Sentinels Tallneck is located in the northwestern part of the map, west of the mountains and north of the ocean. Access to this area requires completing the main quest 'The Eye of the Earth'.
- 2Approach the Tallneck's wandering path to initiate the activity with the objective: 'Climb up the Abandoned Settlement'.
- 3The forest floor beneath the settlement platforms is covered in blight and patrolled by Stalkers, which are feline-like machines with cloaking capabilities, armed with a Dart Gun and a Mine Launcher.
- 4To reach the settlement platforms:
- Option 1 (Platforming): Follow a path northeast through the blight to a collapsed bridge. Use the grapple point there to reach a settlement platform. From this platform, find a large collapsed tree trunk on the northern end of the area. Climb it, jump to a massive stump, and then use handholds on the settlement platform's tree to climb up.
- 5Option 2 (Gliding): Climb the mountains to the west or east of the settlement. From a high vantage point (e.g., a Shelter southwest of Cliffwatch), glide to the abandoned settlement platforms. You might even be able to land directly on the Tallneck.
- 6Once on a settlement platform, wait for the Tallneck to pass and jump onto it.
- 7Ride the Tallneck until it passes a grapple point on a settlement platform to the northeast. Grapple up to this platform.
- 8This platform is guarded by two Fire Clamberjaws. Defeat them.
- 9Shoot down a ladder, climb it, ride a zipline south, and climb to the upper eastern settlement platforms.
- 10From these upper platforms, you can reach the upper parts of the Tallneck as it passes to complete the override.
Tips
- The Heartshatter Spike Thrower can be found in a cache along the northeastern path through the blight.
- If platforming and fighting Stalkers are too challenging, using the glide method from the surrounding mountains is a less complicated alternative.
- Landing on the eastern settlement platforms via gliding can save significant trouble.
- The Tallneck has several antennae, but you cannot climb it from the lower two.
