With 3 badges, exit the Mauville City gym and head west into Route 117.

Illumise and Volbeat are new. While not strong, they can be annoying opponents. Volbeat is very rare; ignore it unless completing the Pokedex. Illumise can be bred with Ditto for a better chance of obtaining one.

Daycare Center:

• Location: North of Route 117 entrance.
• Cost: $100 to leave a Pokemon, plus $100 per level gained.
• Mechanics: Pokemon gain 1 EXP per step. Can hold two Pokemon.
• Breeding: If Pokemon are different genders and same egg group, an egg may be found. It hatches into the female's earliest evolution. Moves are inherited from the male if they are TMs/HMs or on the egg move list. Ditto can breed with most Pokemon.
• Evolution: Pokemon do not evolve in the daycare. Moves learned at daycare replace the oldest move if the Pokemon has 4 moves, unless it's an HM move.

From the Mauville entrance, head south and west. Collect Wepear Berries, then continue west past two ponds. Battle the three trainers to the north. Cut down a bush to find a Revive. Enter the south flower garden, then the next opening to find a Great Ball. Exit the garden and head west to reach Verdanturf Town.
