Walkthrough:
- Make your way to the Space Station located in the east part of Mossdeep City. Team Magma is up to no good, trying to get rocket fuel. Enter the building.
- On the first floor, you'll face several Team Magma Grunts. Be prepared for the following battles:
- Team Magma Grunt with a Zubat (Level 32, Poison/Flying) - Rewards $640
- Team Magma Grunt with a Mightyena (Level 32, Dark) - Rewards $640
- Team Magma Grunt with a Baltoy (Level 32, Ground/Psychic) - Rewards $640
- Team Magma Grunt with a Mightyena (Level 26, Dark), Mightyena (Level 28, Dark), and Numel (Level 30, Fire/Ground) - Rewards $600
- After defeating all the grunts on the first floor, head upstairs. You'll find Maxie and Steven waiting.
- Prepare for a double battle! You'll team up with Steven to fight Maxie and his associate, Tabitha. Steven will bring out his powerful Pokemon:
- Metang (Level 42, Steel/Psychic)
- Skarmory (Level 43, Steel/Flying)
- Aggron (Level 44, Rock/Steel)
- Maxie's team consists of:
- Mightyena (Level 42, Dark)
- Crobat (Level 34, Poison/Flying)
- Camerupt (Level 44, Fire/Ground)
- Tabitha's Pokemon are:
- Camerupt (Level 36, Fire/Ground)
- Mightyena (Level 38, Dark)
- Golbat (Level 40, Poison/Flying)
- Strategy: With Steven's help, this battle should be manageable. The Mightyena are quite weak, so use any strong attacks you have. Both Camerupts can be easily defeated with Water-type moves like Surf. For Golbat and Crobat, watch out for their speed. Electric, Ice, or Rock-type attacks are effective against them. If you find yourself struggling, Steven is there to back you up.
- Once the battle is won, Team Magma will retreat. Steven will then ask you to visit him at his house, which is located northwest of the Pokemon Center in Mossdeep City.
- When you speak with Steven at his home, he will reward you with HM08: Dive. This HM allows your Pokemon to dive underwater for one turn and then attack on the next.
- Note on Dive: While Dive is useful, Surf is generally more powerful. To use Dive, look for dark patches of water while surfing. You'll know you can surface when you see the message
