Follow our guide to ace the Gainful Employment mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. Learn how to quickly track, lasso, and hogtie your bounty in Strawberry for maximum rewards.

Alright, let's get this bounty mission done! This one's called 'Gainful Employment,' and it kicks off in Epilogue Part 1, though you can also tackle it in Part 2 if you prefer. First things first, head over to Valentine and find Sadie in the saloon. There's a bit of a ruckus going on, but Sadie needs your help with a bounty, so you'll both ride out to Strawberry.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Once you arrive in Strawberry and get control, you'll need to be quick! You've only got 30 seconds to find your target. Your best bet is to dash straight to the northernmost house, which is the Welcome Center. Head on upstairs to room number 3.
  2. 2
Give the door a knock, but don't expect them to open it nicely. You'll need to kick it down. The bounty will make a run for it out the window, so be ready to jump over the balcony yourself right after them and mount your horse.
  3. 3
Now, you've got 1 minute and 15 seconds to catch up and lasso this guy. He's a surprisingly fast rider, so don't waste time. The easiest way to handle this is to pull out a gun, activate Dead Eye, and shoot the bounty's horse in the back leg. This will slow it down considerably, or even kill it if you're not worried about losing a bit of Honor.
  4. 4
Once the horse is slowed or down, just gallop over, lasso your bounty, and hogtie them. You should have plenty of time to spare if you do this.
Tips for Gold Medal
  • Make sure you locate the bounty within 30 seconds of arriving in Strawberry.
  • After mounting your horse, catch and hogtie the bounty within 1 minute and 15 seconds.
