Alright, so you're facing off against a Scarmiglione, and you've managed to take out its legs. Good job! Now, the tricky part: its torso is going to crawl forward and try to stab you with that nasty blade arm. It's a close-to-mid-range attack, and the timing for dodging is right before the blade actually connects. If you nail it, you'll avoid taking damage and stagger it, giving you a brief opening.

Recommended Weapons:

• Machine Gun/Rifle: If you've got a good machine gun or a rifle like the PSG-1 with some upgrades, this is a solid choice. Just aim for any part of its body that isn't covered by its shield and unload. Try to go for the head when its upper torso is exposed – that's where you'll do the most damage.
• Magnum: A direct magnum shot to the head will absolutely wreck a Scarmiglione. Hitting other parts of its body with the magnum isn't much better than using a rapid-fire weapon, so save those precious magnum rounds for a headshot if you can.
• Shock Grenade/Pulse Grenade: These are great utility items. A shock grenade deals massive damage to a Scarmiglione; usually, two will take one down. A pulse grenade is fantastic for stunning it, setting it up for a melee attack or just giving you breathing room.

Note on Infected Rachel: While this section is about the Scarmiglione's blade arm, the source text also mentions Infected Rachel. She's a tougher Ooze variant found later, much faster and more aggressive than a standard Ooze. Her weak spot is her head, and it's best to damage her from a distance with a fast-firing weapon before she closes the gap. Up close, she's incredibly dangerous due to her speed. Her damage modifiers are: Body (1.0x), Legs (1.2x), Arms (1.2x), and Head (1.5x).
