Learn how to use the touch screen map for camera movement in Resident Evil: Revelations. Master quarter turns and quick aim turns for better control.
The bottom touch screen in Resident Evil: Revelations displays a mini-map of your current location. This mini-map can be used to control the camera on the top screen, allowing for quick turns and aiming adjustments. Note that this functionality is only available with Type A or B controls; Type C and D controls do not support map screen camera movement.
To rotate the camera, touch and hold the center of the mini-map, then slide your finger towards the desired direction on the map. The camera on the top screen will face the direction your finger is dragged. If you press the aim button after rotating the camera, your character will point their equipped weapon in that direction. This effectively replicates the "quick aim turn" or "quarter turn" seen in Resident Evil 4 and 5.
For simple left or right camera rotation, place your finger in the middle of the screen, touch the map, and drag your finger towards the edge of the screen. You can drag your finger across menu elements without losing camera control.
Once rotated, the camera will remain locked in its new position until one of the following actions occurs:
- Moving your character with the circle pad (returns camera to default view).
- Pressing the aim button (character aims towards the center of the locked camera angle).
- Using the map screen again to rotate the camera.
You can rotate the camera a full 360 degrees around your character by touching and sliding your finger across the bottom screen. While you can rotate the camera while moving, it will revert to the default position once you release the touch screen. Consistent practice is key to mastering this feature, as the touch screen acts as a substitute for a right analog stick for camera adjustments.
To perform a quick aim turn:
- Touch and hold the center of the bottom screen.
- Drag your finger to one side of the bottom screen to rotate the camera.
- Press the aim button when the camera is in the desired position to make your character turn.
