Follow our comprehensive guide to complete the Firebreak quest in Horizon Zero Dawn's The Frozen Wilds DLC. Includes walkthrough, tips, and collectible locations.
Walkthrough
- 1Head to Longnotch. You can fast travel to a nearby campfire if you've activated one. A merchant is available en route if you need to sort inventory.
- 2Upon reaching Longnotch, you'll meet Ourea and Aratak. You can optionally speak with Aratak for additional background story.
- 3Seek out Ourea nearby up the hill. She will also provide information and background story.
- 4From the dialogue wheel, choose to either continue the main quest to Thunder's Drum or return later. This is your last chance to prepare or explore more of The Cut.
- 5If you choose to continue, Ourea and Naltuk perform a ritual to open the path to Thunder's Drum. Ourea and Aratak will accompany you.
- 6Head down the middle to find the Audio Datapoint – Return to Firebreak on the left, just before a tall mechanical structure. There is a locked door to the left and a loot crate.
- 7Climb the machine to reach stairs above. Jump to the platform on your right to find the Text Datapoint – Kenny’s Homecoming on a desk.
- 8Continue up the stairs, traverse the mechanical construction to the right, and enter the next room.
- 9In this room, you will face five Watchers, a Scrapper, and a Freeze Bellowback. Clear out all machines.
- 10Head to the other side of the room to find the Text Datapoint – That Kiss on a desk, along with a loot crate.
- 11Find a ladder on the wall in the back corner leading to an upper walkway. Follow it to find loot and take the stairs to the top.
- 12In the next room, you have a choice of paths to reach the door at the back:
- Aratak’s Path: Directly to the Tower, requires defeating two Lv 35 Scorchers and a Lv 40 Behemoth.
- 13Ourea’s Path: Up to the Tower, avoids the larger machines but involves fighting Stalkers (Lv 30), Scrappers (Lv 15), Watchers, and a Lv 23 Longlegs.
- 14Once you reach the tower door, pick up the Audio Datapoint – Excessive Secrecy on a crate.
- 15Go through the door into the control tower. Descend the stairs (a loot crate is under them) and follow the hall to a room with a large supply crate.
- 16Turn around and go through the door on the left to Activate the Control Unit.
