Learn how to clear Bandit Camps in Horizon Zero Dawn, including strategies for Devils Thirst, Hollow Fort, Two-Teeth, Gatelands, and Shattered Kiln camps. Get tips on stealth, alarms, and prisoners.

Bandit camps are scattered throughout the world of Horizon Zero Dawn, offering opportunities for combat, resource gathering, and experience points. Each camp presents unique challenges and layouts, but general strategies can be applied to most.

General Tips for Bandit Camps:

  • Stealth is Key: Approaching camps stealthily often yields better results, minimizing damage taken. Use tall grass and cover to your advantage.
  • Focus: Utilize Aloy's Focus to tag enemies, identify patrol routes, and locate important objectives like alarms and prisoners.
  • Disable Alarms: Shooting the alarm with an arrow will prevent bandits from calling for reinforcements, making the encounter more manageable.
  • Free Prisoners: Prisoners can be freed to aid in combat, but be aware they may rush into open areas, potentially compromising your stealth.
  • Target Heavies: Bandit Heavies often carry powerful weapons like Firespitters. Prioritize taking them down, especially if you are detected.
  • Leader Strike: Some elite enemies, marked with a skull when tagged, require the Leader Strike skill to stealth kill.

Devils Thirst Bandit Camp

Located north of the Main Embrace Gate. Nil can be found west of the camp, overlooking it. Freeing prisoners here may alert others. Speak to Jom after clearing the camp, then Nil for your reward.

Hollow Fort Bandit Camp

Northwest of Devil’s Grief, recommended for level 25. Features enemies that may require multiple headshots and a Bandit Heavy with a Firespitter. Freeing prisoners can be a good distraction.

Two-Teeth Bandit Camp

Southeast of Daytower, in the mountains. An easier approach is from the northernmost road from the west. Features a Bandit Heavy. The altitude difference provides a tactical advantage.

Gatelands Bandit Camp

West of the Copper Deeps Tallneck. The southern approach offers ledges for a good vantage point to pick off enemies and disable the alarm. A Bandit Heavy with a Firespitter is present.

Shattered Kiln Bandit Camp

South of Maker’s End, in the northwest corner of the map. Approaching from the southeast allows you to pick off bandits in watchtowers. This camp has a higher concentration of Elite bandits. The alarm is located on the northwestern side.
