Luck of the Hunt

Guide your hunt for Taim's Lost Ring and Boar Skins in Horizon Zero Dawn. Learn how to track machines, craft Shock Wires, and defeat the dangerous Sawtooth.

Alright, so you've made your way to Mother's Crown. From there, we need to head north. Keep going until you hit the first Campfire you see outside of town. Once you're there, hang a right (east) and head out into the wilderness. You'll cross a stream, then use a zipline to get over another stream and a gorge. Keep heading northeast, and you should spot a Grazer Site below you with a bunch of Grazers and a couple of Watchers. Continue north and use a rappel point to get down into the lowlands. Once you're down there, duck into the tall grass nearby.

You know the drill: use Silent Strike or Lure Call to pick off the machines one by one. Once they're all dealt with and you've looted them, activate your Focus to pick up Taim's trail. Follow it east, and you'll find a dead Boar. Searching it will give you Taim's Lost Ring. Pretty ironic, right?

Now that you've got the ring, it's time to get some Boar Skins. You can find them anywhere, but the woods east of Mother's Crown, southeast of where you found the ring, are a good spot. Be warned, though: Taim wasn't kidding about the machine that scared him off. A Sawtooth is lurking in these woods, and it's got good reason to be feared!

But you're not Taim, you're a seasoned machine hunter! A Sawtooth shouldn't be too much trouble. Shock Wires are your best bet for stunning it. You've got plenty of trees around to use as anchor points for your traps. You can either mark its path and set up some surprises, or just pepper it with Shock Arrows until it's stunned. Once it's down and its Blaze Canister is exposed, take that out. Then, finish off the Sawtooth. Maybe stun it again and go in for some melee attacks?

Once the Sawtooth is neutralized, hunt around until you've got four Boar Skins. Then, head back to Taim. He'll be chilling at the Campfire north of Mother's Crown. Chat with him, he'll sort out his ring situation, and then you'll get your reward.
