Robbing the Rich

Follow our guide to complete the 'Robbing the Rich' side quest in Horizon Zero Dawn. Recover a stolen sword and uncover a thief's motives.

Alright, so you've done a good bit of exploring in Meridian, and now it's time to pick up some side quests. Just northeast of the "Hunting Goods" merchant, you'll find a guy named Ravan on his porch. He's got a problem: his brother's sword was nicked by a thief, and he wants it back. Sounds simple enough, right?

After you accept, chat with his Steward nearby. He's not much help, but use your Focus to scan the Broken Window Lattice where he's sweeping. You'll pick up a blood trail. Follow it – seriously, the thief leaves a ton of blood, Aloy even comments on it! The trail eventually ends, so talk to a merchant named Keadi. Her story doesn't quite line up with what you've heard, so head southeast to Meridian's fancy balcony area and find Rokasha. Her story is different too. Go back to Keadi, give her a little nudge, and she'll spill the beans about the thief's motivations and where to find them.

The thief's hideout is at a watermill southeast of Meridian. Forget running all the way around the city; from Keadi, head southeast under some arches to reach the road above the balconies. Follow this road east until you find some elevators. Take them down to the docks. Be careful down here, it's where things can get hairy!

Once the elevator stops, you're near the docks. There's a Campfire right at the top and another at the bottom. You'll see the "Meridian Village" marker to the south, but for now, head northeast towards the "Royal Maizelands" marker. Ignore any distractions and keep going northeast until you reach a fork just past an irrigation ditch. Turn southeast, cross the bridge, and at the next fork, turn south/southwest. You'll pass the watermill.
