The War-Chief's Trail

Follow the trail to the massacre site and then to Devil's Thirst in horizon zero dawn. Find Metal Flowers along the way.

Head north from the Main Embrace Gate towards the massacre site. You will pass your first Campfire outside the Embrace. Continue northeast towards a river. You can hunt Grazers here; they have multiple Blaze Canisters and their Rotor Blade horns can be removed. A Fire Arrow can be effective, or use the Silent Strike/Lure Call combo.

At a fork by the river, heading northeast leads to the Nora Hunting Grounds. You can speak to Cren there about the trials, which require resources and are dangerous. Training Dummy XIV and Training Dummy XV are located near the lodge at the Hunting Grounds.

Return to the fork and take the central path northwest. You will pass a Strider Site and reach ruined houses. West of the Metal Flower map marker, search high ground to find Metal Flower - Mark I (C).

Continue north, then northeast, passing a Campfire with a merchant who has nothing new but junk to sell. At a fork, turn north, then take the northwestern branch at a second fork, passing another Strider Site.

To find another Metal Flower, head southwest from the Strider Site icon to some ruins. Carefully descend into the ruins, drop down, and climb down a cliff face. Swim west, watching south for Metal Flower - Mark I (F) on a stone ledge. Leave the ruins the way you came; further ruins ahead contain a powerful suit of armor, but require more Power Cells to access.

Return to the road northwest of the ruins and head west under a watch tower. At the next fork, take the southwest path, cross a bridge, and climb a ramp to a Campfire near the Mother’s Rise settlement. Two sidequests, "Insult to Injury" and "A Daughter’s Vengeance," are available here but can be completed later. The Campfire unlocks fast travel.

Backtrack northeast to the bridge near the watch tower. Continue northwest across the bridge, passing a Grazer Site. Cross another bridge to the north.

Immediately turn west after crossing the bridge and head uphill to the massacre site. Activate your Focus to scan the remains of a destroyed Watcher and a destroyed Corruptor. Search them physically. A survivor named Dran will appear; talk to him to learn about the events and find out where War-Chief Sona went.

Head east back to the bridge and downhill to a river. Cross the river and continue east through old world ruins. Expect Grazers and Watchers. A Tallneck paces in the distance. Search a pile of Ancient Debris to find the Ancient Vessel - Ar.
