Complete walkthrough for The Forge of Winter quest in Horizon Zero Dawn's Frozen Wilds DLC. Includes objectives, enemy strategies, and puzzle solutions.
Walkthrough
- 1In the Antechamber, defeat the Watcher below. Shoot the Daemonic corruption off the yellow handholds. Traverse right, timing your jump over the sparking handhold. Drop to the platform below.
- 2Grab a passing conveyor to cross the broken vent. Drop down and fire an arrow into the giant turbine to redirect it clockwise. Follow the handholds around to the next platform.
- 3Drop down to override the panel and fix the vent, allowing Aratak and Ourea to pass.
- 4Defeat the Daemonic Shell-Walker (Lv 28) that appears.
- 5Return to the start, climb the handholds, and ride the conveyor again. This time, it will take you all the way across the room.
- 6Drop down by the purple door, override the valve, and activate a bridge for your allies. Aratak will blast the door open.
- 7Inside, override the console to open the ancient door. Listen to CYAN's message about HEPHAESTUS.
- 8Proceed through the door. Behind a supply crate, find the Audio Datapoint – Induced Coma. Unlock the next door to the machine production area.
- 9In the Production Area, be cautious of Watchers, Shell-Walkers, and Scorchers. Your goal is to reach the turbine opposite. If you take down a Scorcher, use its Mine Launcher against other machines.
- 10On the way to the turbine, override a panel to create a bridge. Traverse the wall until you can drop down by the purple tunnel. Head down the slope to the next panel to activate a bridge for Aratak and Ourea. Aratak will open a path.
- 11In the next room, go left to the Tallneck head and rappel down. Defeat the Watcher. Find the glowing handholds behind the central structure, clear the corruption, and follow them to the next platform.
- 12To the left is a loot container. To the right, use a piston moving up and down to reach the next area. Use a second piston to reach an upper platform, being wary of Watchers.
- 13The next piston moves sideways. Wait for it to extend, then run across to the other side and ride it.
Tips
- Use the Mine Launcher from a defeated Scorcher to deal with other machines in the Production Area.
- Time your movements carefully when traversing sparking handholds and moving pistons.
- Progression to the next stage of the quest.
