The Claws Beneath

First off, you'll need to travel to the settlement of Longnotch. Once you arrive, look for a man named Umnak. He's usually hanging out to the left of the campfire. Umnak has a request for you: he wants to hunt a machine in honor of a fallen friend, but he's gotten a bit too old for the job himself. Since he's heard about your legendary hunting skills, he's hoping you'll take his place.

After accepting the errand, make sure to activate it in your quest menu. Then, open up your map. You'll see a trail leading you towards the northeast edge of The Cut. It's a pretty good distance away, so be prepared for a bit of a journey. If you're lucky, you might have already discovered a campfire near this area, which means you can fast travel directly to it.

When you get close, you'll find some handholds that let you climb up and around the rocks. This will lead you into a large area with a control tower right in the center. Now, here's the tricky part: the disarming pulse from the tower won't quite reach you from where you are, but you also can't destroy it from this distance. This creates a bit of a problem. The moment you try to make a break for the tower, a Daemonic Rockbreaker will appear out of nowhere and lunge at you!

The platform with the tower is actually the best place to be for this fight, giving you a height advantage. This fearsome machine is what Umnak calls the 'Claws Beneath'.

Strategy for the Daemonic Rockbreaker: Treat this machine much like its regular counterpart. Your best bet is to hit it with Freeze whenever you get the chance. Try to aim for its components, especially its feet, to knock them off. Destroying its feet is crucial because it prevents the Rockbreaker from digging back underground.

The Rockbreaker is fast, but it doesn't stay on the surface for long. You'll often have to lure it out by running around the area. This means the fight can take a while, mostly because you'll be waiting for it to surface.

Priority: Disable the Tower! If you're quick and agile enough, your first move should be to sprint towards the control tower and disable it. Doing this is super important because any damage you inflict on the Rockbreaker after disabling the tower won't be restored. This will significantly cut down the time it takes to defeat it.

Once you've successfully taken down the Daemonic Rockbreaker, make sure to loot its body. You'll often find some legendary modifications there, which are super valuable.

With the machine defeated and looted, your final step is to return to Longnotch and speak with Umnak to let him know you've completed his request.
