Defeat the Hydra in Kingdom Hearts II using Valor Form and Reaction Commands. Collect items and puzzle pieces in Disney Castle.

Walkthrough

    When the Hydra dips its head, attack it to prompt the "Vanquish" command. Use this to sever the head, causing three more to pop up.

    Defeat the three new heads.

    Listen for Phil to call Sora. Jump on the Hydra's back and use "Phil One-Two" and combo into the "Urninator" to knock the heads silly.

    Pick a head, drain its health, and use "Vanquish" to remove it. Repeat for the remaining two heads.

    The Hydra will return with seven heads. Start with Valor Form when it lowers its heads to deal significant damage.

    Watch out for swinging attacks and dark energy. Visit Meg to the left of the Hydra for HP, MP, and Drive Orbs.

    As the Hydra's HP lowers, it will summon blue pillars of fire. Use "Pegasus Run" to get several "Attack" commands to avoid this.

    Deal enough damage to stun the Hydra and use "Vanquish" one last time to win the battle.
Tips
  • Use Valor Form when the Hydra has seven heads to deal a lot of damage.
  • Use "Pegasus Run" to avoid the blue pillars of fire attack.
  • The Minute Bomb Heartless explodes after a countdown. Use the Reaction Command "Dodge Roll" to cause it to blow itself up. Guarding its charge blocks the attack and breaks its skull cap, leaving it vulnerable.

After the battle, a scene with Minnie occurs, calling for help. Travel to Disney Castle.

Courtyard Brawl:

  1. Save upon arrival.
  2. Use Valor Form to High Jump over the archway to get [TWO SIDES #3].
  3. Move into the Castle Courtyard and fight Shadows, Soldiers, and Minute Bombs.
  4. Collect all items and puzzle pieces.
  5. From the Gummi Hangar entrance, jump on the ledge straight ahead and open the chest for a [BLAZING STONE] (5/8).
  6. Head to the corner to your right and open the chest for an [AP BOOST] (3/8).
  7. Continue clockwise to find a [MYTHRIL SHARD] (7/8).
  8. Leap to the corner to collect the [TWO SIDES #12] puzzle piece.
  9. At another corner, leap to a chest with a [MYTHRIL SHARD] (1/8).
  10. Jump across the gap to find a [MYTHRIL STONE] (4/8).
  11. Climb atop the hedge for [HEART #1].
  12. At the base of the center castle-hedge is a chest with a [BLAZING SHARD] (6/8).
  13. Open the chest atop the castle for the [STAR RECIPE] (2/8).
  14. Jump around it to claim [HEART #2].
  15. Exit at the corner that is at 8 o'clock from the entrance to reach the Colonnade.

Minute Bomb Enemy Details:

This Heartless looks like a little bomb. It attacks by charging in a straight line. Using Guard will block the attack and break its skull cap, causing the Minute Bomb to stand still and not attack. If you damage the Minute Bomb, it will start a countdown. Once the number goes from 9 to 0, it will explode for massive damage. Use the Reaction Command "Dodge Roll" before this happens to dodge and cause the Minute Bomb to blow itself up without causing harm.

Fight through the Colonnade, which consists of Shadows. In the Library, find Queen Minnie and a save point. Utilize the save point.
