Azure Rathalos Strengths and Weaknesses:

The Azure Rathalos shares many similarities with the Rathalos. Its weak points are the head (most damage), followed by the wings and tail. The head, wings, and body are breakable, and the tail can be severed. Azure Rathalos is resistant to Fire, but very weak to Dragon, and somewhat weak to Ice. It is not particularly susceptible to ailments, but Sleep, Paralysis, and Stun are easier to inflict than Poison and Blast. A Fire Resistance score of twenty or higher is recommended to prevent being set on fire. Flash Pods are highly recommended. While its tail attacks are rare, Azure Rathalos can inflict Poison with its claw attacks. Three ranks of the Poison Resistance skill will negate this, otherwise Antidotes may be necessary.

  • Ailments: Poison (*), Sleep (**), Paralysis (**), Blast (*), Stun (**)

Azure Rathalos Attacks:

The Azure Rathalos fights similarly to the Rathalos, but uses its fire breath more frequently. It prefers to stay airborne, using fire breath attacks that include a single blast, a triple blast, or a sweeping arc of fire. It can also perform flying charge attacks and a diving claw attack that can inflict Poison. While on the ground, it may use a charge attack or leap into the air before slamming down. It can transition seamlessly back to the air with a leaping fire breath blast.

Rare drops include Rathalos Ruby (also from High Rank Rathalos, increased odds by breaking head/body or carving tail), Rathalos Plate (also from Low Rank Rathalos), Azure Rathalos Carapace (***), Azure Rathalos Scale+ (****), Azure Rathalos Wing (***), Azure Rathalos Tail (**), Monster Hardbone (***), and Inferno Sac (***).
