The Great Girros is a Fanged Wyvern that can be hunted in Monster Hunter: World. While not a mandatory story encounter, it is available through optional quests. The Low Rank quest 'A Rotten Thing to Do' unlocks after completing 'Radobaan Roadblock', and the High Rank quest 'A Tingling Taste' becomes available after defeating High Rank Pukei-Pukei in the Wildspire Waste.

Great Girros Strengths and Weaknesses

The Great Girros is most vulnerable to damage on its head, front legs, and tail, with the head being the prime target. Its tail is more resistant to ammo damage than its head or legs. The head and arms are breakable, and the tail is severable.

Environmental Hazards

Great Girros resides in the Rotten Vale, an area with damaging effluvia. The Effluvial Expert skill, found on Hornetaur and Girros armor, can mitigate this damage. The Great Girros and its lesser Girros kin can inflict Paralysis with their bites and spittle. Three ranks of Paralysis Resistance are recommended to counter this.

Great Girros Attacks

Resembling the Great Jagras, the Great Girros attacks with paralyzing bites and projectile spit. Its spit attack involves discharging a single glob. Bite attacks include a simple bite, a lunging bite, a two-stage bite, and a sprinting charge with its jaws agape. If it paralyzes a hunter, it may perform a flop-roll attack. It can also perform a tail slap against attackers from its rear.

The primary threats during a Great Girros hunt are its paralyzing minions, environmental effluvia damage, and interruptions from other monsters like Odogaron and, in High Rank, Bazelgeuse.
