Hunt the Legiana in monster hunter world. Weak to Thunder and Poison, it attacks aggressively from the air with ice-based assaults.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Start near the Northeast Camp and exit west through the hole. Head south down a ramp to AREA 12, where the Legiana often lurks. If not found immediately, follow tracks to locate it.
  2. 2
The Legiana moves between AREA 10, AREA 12, and AREA 8 during combat. Its lair is typically atop AREA 15.
  3. 3
Use the Glider Mantle to help traverse the vertical terrain of the Coral Highlands and keep up with the Legiana's aerial movements.
  4. 4
Be aware of the Legiana's attacks, including bites, aerial claw attacks, tail sweeps, and ice projectiles. Its ice attacks, both short-range arcs and long-range lines, deal significant damage and can inflict Iceblight, which increases stamina cost. These can be performed while airborne. Use Nulberries to cure Iceblight if possible, but be cautious as the Legiana offers few openings.
  5. 5
Target weak points such as the head, wings, and tail, all of which are breakable. The head is particularly vulnerable to precise attacks.
  6. 6
The Legiana is weak to Thunder and Poison, and resistant to Ice. It is especially susceptible to the Poison ailment.
Tips
  • Consider using a ranged weapon or a melee weapon with good reach, such as a Long Sword, due to the Legiana's aerial agility. Charge Blade and Switch Axe can work but may present some difficulty.
  • The Legiana's elemental weaknesses are Fire (weak), Water (neutral), Thunder (strong), Ice (resistant), and Dragon (neutral).
  • Its susceptibility to ailments includes Poison (strong), Sleep (moderate), Paralysis (moderate), Blast (moderate), and Stun (moderate).
  • Breaking parts can yield specific materials: Legiana Hide, Legiana Scale, Legiana Claw, Legiana Webbing, and rarely, a Legiana Plate.
  • Carving the Legiana can yield: Legiana Hide, Legiana Scale, Legiana Claw, Legiana Webbing, Legiana Plate, Monster Bone+, and Frost Sac.
  • Capturing the Legiana also completes the assignment.

Post-Hunt: After completing the assignment, you will return to the Research Base. You may choose to take on new quests or return to Astera to upgrade your armor. Armor upgrades can be expensive, costing over 10,000z and 30+ Armor Sphere+ items, but can significantly increase your Defense by 30% or more.

Elder Melder: In Astera's Tradeyard, the Elder Melder allows you to meld items using Research Points and Melding Points. Melding Points are gained by sacrificing other items. For example, sacrificing ten Monster Bone S items and expending 20 Research Points can yield one Shock Trap.
