Learn how to hunt Tempered monsters in Monster Hunter: World, including Threat Levels, investigations, and how to unlock them to get the 'Indomitable' trophy/achievement.

Alright, so you've finished the Land of Convergence assignment and are diving into the post-game. The main focus now is hunting Tempered monsters. Think of them as tougher versions of their High Rank selves – same health, same materials, but they hit way harder. The Streamstones they drop aren't important for this trophy, but how you find these hunts is. Most Tempered monster hunts come from investigations, though you might stumble upon a few via assignments, optional quests, or events.

To get these investigations, you'll want to head out on High Rank expeditions, especially after Land of Convergence. Keep an eye out for blue monster tracks on the ground. Searching these tracks gives you a shot at unlocking a Tempered monster investigation.

Tempered monsters are actually split into three Threat Levels. Threat Level 1 includes monsters like Anjanath, Barroth, Jyuratodus, Paolumu, Pukei-Pukei, Radobaan, Rathian, and Tobi-Kadachi. You can hunt these even if your Hunter Rank (HR) is below 30. The other two tiers require you to bump up your HR and finish specific assignments that unlock HR advancement. Once you hit HR 29, take on the assignment Beyond the Blasting Scales. This will push your HR cap to 49 and let you hunt Threat Level 2 Tempered monsters. This group includes monsters like Azure Rathalos, Bazelgeuse, Black Diablos, Diablos, Lavasioth, Legiana, Odogaron, Pink Rathian, Rathalos, and Uragaan.

Finally, when you reach HR 49, you'll get the assignment Thunderous Rumble in the Highlands. Completing this unlocks HR 50 and allows you to go after the toughest monsters: Threat Level 3, which are the Elder Dragons Kirin, Kushala Daora, Nergigante, Teostra, and Vaal Hazak.

The 'Indomitable' trophy or achievement pops after you've defeated any fifty Tempered monsters. Honestly, you'll probably end up doing this naturally while grinding your HR for the 'Established Hunter' trophy anyway, so don't stress too much about it!
