Embark on the Great Ravine Expedition in Monster Hunter: World's Coral Highlands. Discover new areas, set up camp, and prepare for encounters with Shamos and Tzitzi-Ya-Ku.
Walkthrough
- 1Begin by finding a suitable spot to set up camp. Grab necessary items from the Item Box and jump off the cliff to the north.
- 2Explore the area, capture endemic life, and harvest materials. Make your way to AREA 2.
- 3In AREA 2, climb a ledge to the east to witness a cutscene introducing the Shamos and Tzitzi-Ya-Ku. Avoid conflict with the Tzitzi-Ya-Ku if possible, but exterminate Shamos if they attack.
- 4Continue north to AREA 7, then north again to AREA 8, and proceed to AREA 10.
- 5In AREA 10, find a hole on the eastern edge to crawl through, leading to a convenient spot for a camp.
- 6After discovering the campsite, you will be prompted to return to Astera.
- 7The delivery request 'Setting Up Camp: Coral Highlands' will be available at the Resource Center. It requires 1,000 Research Points, Monster Bone M, and a Tzitzi-Ya-Ku Hide.
- 8To obtain the Tzitzi-Ya-Ku Hide, you can hunt it via expedition or, preferably, by picking up the optional quest 'A Tzitzi for Science'.
- 9Before returning to the Coral Highlands, pick up quests in Astera. The Commander will mention Zorah Magdaros's bio-energy.
- 10Talk to the Laid-back Botanist to accept the delivery request 'To Hold a Harvest', which requires an Aqua Sac from Jyuratodus in the Wildspire Wastes. Capturing Jyuratodus or completing an investigation can increase your chances of obtaining it. Completing this request doubles the size of your Harvest Box.
- 11Head to the Canteen and talk to the Fiver Bro to accept the delivery request 'A Feast of Fish', requiring Gajau Skin from Gajau found in AREA 9 and AREA 10 of the Wildspire Wastes. Consider doing the quest 'The Pain from Gains' for more Gajau Skin.
- 12Speak with the Meowscular Chef to accept two new quests: 'It’s a Crying Shamos' (kill 11 Shamos) and 'What a Bunch of Abalone' (obtain and deliver 10 Super Abalone).
- 13Visit the Workshop and talk to the Second Fleet Master. This unlocks the 'Special Arena' and several new optional quests, including 'Special Arena: Barroth', 'Special Arena: Tobi-Kadachi', and 'Special Arena: Rathian'. These arena quests are not covered in detail as they are repeats of previous fights.
Tips
- You can fast travel back to the Item Box if you need supplies, so don't worry too much about what you bring initially.
- Wounded monsters can flee from the map during expeditions, making quests a more reliable way to hunt specific monsters.
- Hunting monsters in the Special Arena is tougher than in the wild because monsters will not flee, limiting opportunities to heal or sharpen your weapon.
- Completing 'Setting Up Camp: Coral Highlands' allows for camp establishment in the Coral Highlands.
- Completing 'To Hold a Harvest' doubles the size of your Harvest Box.
- Completing 'It’s a Crying Shamos' and 'What a Bunch of Abalone' contribute to Canteen upgrades and hunter progression.
