Learn how to capture the Barroth in Monster Hunter: World. This guide covers strategy, weaknesses, and tips for the 'Landing the Landslide Wyvern' quest.

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • Objective: Capture a Barroth
  • Reward Money: 3600z
  • Time Limit: 50 min.
  • Conditions: HR 3 or higher
  • Failure Conditions: Time Expires / Faint 3 Times / Barroth is slain
  • Other Monsters: Apceros, Kestodon, Gajau, Noios

Phases:

  1. Preparation: Ensure you've completed the 'Snatch the Snatcher' quest to unlock this one. Aim to get your Scoutfly Level to three before you find the Barroth.
  2. Engagement: Fight the Barroth, focusing on inflicting damage. It's more durable than previous monsters you might have faced.
  3. Fleeing: The Barroth will eventually flee towards its lair. A skull icon will appear on your mini-map indicating its location.
  4. Trapping: The Barroth's lair is underwater and unsuitable for traps. You have two options: either intercept it on its path to the lair and set a trap, or lure it out of its lair. To lure it out, you can provoke it while it's sleeping, then retreat to an area where you can place a trap.
  5. Capture: Once the Barroth is in your trap, use tranq bombs to capture it and complete the quest.
Tips
  • Be aware of the Jyuratodus in the swamp area, as it might attack a weakened Barroth, complicating the capture.
  • Since the Barroth's lair is underwater, you cannot place traps directly inside it. Plan your trap placement carefully either on its path or by luring it out.
  • After capturing the Barroth, return to town and speak with the Smart Biologist for 600 Research Points. Further requests from him will require advancing the main story.
