After defeating the Elite Four in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, revisit the Mirage Tower's counterpart to claim the forgotten Fossil. Learn how to find it and revive your ancient Pokémon!
Alright, remember that Fossil you picked up way back in the Mirage Tower? You know, the one where the other one ended up buried in the sand? Well, guess what? Now that you’ve beaten the Elite Four, it’s time to go back and snag that lost Fossil!
First things first, fly over to Fallarbor Town. Once you land, head west onto Route 114. Keep going left until you spot a house; head inside. From there, make your way all the way north through the area. You’ll eventually find an opening that leads you into the Desert Underpass. It’s a pretty long stretch, so you might want to pop a Repel or two before you head in.
This place is actually pretty cool because it’s one of the first spots where you can find some new Pokémon! Keep an eye out for:
- Ditto (Very Common)
- Whismur (Common)
- Loudred (Uncommon)
Ditto is a really interesting Pokémon. It can transform into whatever Pokémon it’s facing in battle, copying all of its moves! The catch is, it doesn’t copy the opponent’s stats, so you’re stuck with Ditto’s own stats. However, if you’re looking to breed some baby Pokémon, Ditto is your best bet. It can breed with pretty much any Pokémon (as long as they’re not in the “No Eggs” group), even though it’s genderless!
Once you’re inside the Desert Underpass, your goal is simple: just head all the way to the right until you reach the other side. There, you’ll find that other Fossil – either the Root Fossil or the Claw Fossil, depending on which one you chose earlier. Once you’ve got it, take it back to the Devon Corp. Building in Rustboro City, and they’ll revive it for you.
Pro Tip: You’re going to run into a lot of wild Pokémon in the Desert Underpass, so definitely stock up on a few Max Repels before you go. It’ll make the trip much smoother!
After you’ve left the Desert Underpass and headed back out of the house onto Route 114, don’t leave the route just yet! Go to the far left side, and you’ll find a body of water. Surf on it and make your way to the waterfall. Use the move Waterfall to go up it, and at the very top, you’ll find a Rare Candy. Grab it, and then you’re free to go tackle other things!
